Here's a few that I didn't like for ages, then warmed to...

HBHG. I hated this track when I first heard it, it sounded cheesy, never built up very far, and it just seemed typical 4x4 house. I always used to skip in on Surrender, but after seeing them live I now love the track, and can see exactly where it's coming from.

The Test. Sounds crazy, but it just didn't sound right at first. The beat was too weak, the vocals sounded a bit forced and it just didn't do it for me at all. Absolutely love it now, just took a while for it to click.

Golden Path. Didn't like it at first, mainly cause I just didn't get it. But I really dig it now, nice mix of cool sounds and a bit of acid humor.

Galvanize. Like the rest, it just didn't sound chems and I hated that they moved in that direction. But I love the track now, really cool piece of music, and I've thought Q-Tip was awesome since I first heard Ill Communication.

Believe. Again, just didn't seem like it worked as a track, the bass seemed weak, the vocals didn't do it for me and it always felt like the track could've worked better. But now I think it's excellent, one of the best tracks off PTB. I wish they played it when I saw them live!

That's all I can think of at the moment. There are some other tracks that I haven't warmed to (Rize Up and Swiper for instance), but on the whole, if I don't like a chems track at first I really shouldn't be surprised cause I've hated tracks that I now think are among their best.

Shake...Break...Bounce! Didn't dig this song until I listened to the whole PTB album and found myself singing those 3 lines in my car as loud as possible. good times. Marvo was another that I'm opening to.

Alive Alone, I liked a little at the beginning, however now it is one of my favorite tracks and probably favorite collaboration next to life is sweet. Think Alive Alone is great how perfect Beth'ss voice comes in, then that guitar riff is great, and the deeprolling bass riff. Good stuff.

I love Alive Alone. Tremendous track. The best of the Beth collabs, for sure. (Not that the others are shabby. Actually, wouldn't have minded seeing her back for WATN at all.)

Call me a out and out fanboy, I've never disliked a single Chems track.

Except for Star Guitar which I was not too fond of on the first few listens - i found the rest of the album too brilliant in comparison, but once i stopped comparing and looked at the bigger picture, i started liking it. Now I love it for what it is. A total out and out love is all tune.

Also, if I may mention I couldn't play a few tracks for some phases in my life for their sheer beauty and how I connected them with shit i'd been thru, like the State We're In - I'm over that and can play it, but it still freaks me a bit. Also, Alive Alone. Too beautiful, too painful.

I haven't actively disliked a Chems track that I can think of, other than perhaps Swiper (although I haven't listened to it more than a couple times really). Most of the ones I didn't dig so much was just a matter of me just not really being into that sort of thing at the time, but out of the blue it would make sense months or even years later.

The Golden Path was one hell of a grower... I think a lot of people here remember how the track got slacked off by many including me, but I've really grown to love it very much. In fact, in the beginning I liked Get Yourself High and didn't like The Golden Path much, but now things changed. I've grown really tired of Get Yourself High - it doesn't really have any depth, doesn't sound too exciting either, just a forgettable pop-rap tune. But The Golden Path... wahhh... Really love it. The Flaming Lips are fantastic.

Another tune that comes to mind is Chems remix of Kylie. At first I was like.. wTF? That's not gonna work... But when I heard it... the result was amazing! Really good remix.

The Golden Path is my favourite Chems vocal song along with The Test - I really don't want to get into that discussion again, but I still find it a bit wierd how people cannot love it. It's ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Everything from the music to the lyrics to the singing to the high chorus part.

I infact got into (and out of) the Flaming Lips only recently - they got too depressingly painful for me - and I was shocked that not even one song on their discog sounds like the Golden Path - Coyne doesn't sing like that on any of his songs.

And I LURRVVE the kylie remix. Damn - it's HOT! The remix I mean - love that part halfway where the Chems say hell Kylie - from here on we take up - it's a hardcore CHEMS club song - am sure Kylie would have had a few tough nights trying to sleep after getting that back from the chems in her post!

I adore the Golden Path and I think it's a beautiful song, a bit humorous, well put together and I love Wayne Coyne for his lyrical genius. I was so excited when I heard the Chems were going to be collaborating with the Lips for a song!

I think the Slow remix managed to surprise quite a few people here who had their reservations. It was interesting and fascinating to read how the events unfolded from hearing the news of the Slow remix to people hearing the song and really digging it, taking to it well. I'm not what you'd call a fan of Kylie's music but I think she has a lovely voice that sounds both innocent and sultry at the same time (and I really dug a song she did with Nick Cave). From what I gathered she was always a fan of their music and she was absolutely thrilled they did a remix of Slow. I read an interview with her after her album came out and the journalist described Kylie dancing around her livingroom to the Chems Slow remix and just gushing about how much she loved it. X-D

Left-Right took a looong time to grow on me

I wasn't too keen on the gangsta+chems

But i grew to love it. pretty retro if you ask me

But hey, probably the best hip-hop track of all time.....chems doin hip-hop, just destroys all opposing rap tracks with a single low-freq kicker

I like the instrumental on Left Right and the vocal delivery and tone is good, but I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics (though I have no problem with making a political song).

But Left Right isn't even the best Chems hip-hop song (Not Another Drugstore shades Get Yourself High, IMO), let alone the best hip-hop track of all time. Love the instrumental though.

Never liked Left Right, still don't.

Playground for a Wedgeless Firm isn't great, but after hearing it live on the B-Sides disc, it made me appreciate it.

Get Up On It Like This ( So funky! )

Jeanie - u said it! THAT'S ONE OF MY FAV BREAKBEAT TUNES FROM THE CHEMS! FUNNNKKK KEYYY! Also fuckup beats, chemical beats - can never get over these tunes in another 100 yrs.

And Left Right's BRILLIANT. I don't think it's gangsta+Chems. There's nothign gangsta bout it, except rap style vocals - LOVE the MAD bassline and INSANE energy on it - the first time I heard it on headphones I was shaking - WTF? THAT BASSLINE.

I didnt mean to say it was the best hip hop track...just got caught up in the moment ;-)

not another drug store and GYH are better....but they do produce destructive hip hop.....BETTER than anything that has come out in the last 8 years that much can be said

as for left right being gangsta+chems...it pretty much is....the low-toned rapper, "all my soldiers march with me" "blah blah blah blah blah, i thought i told ya, this is the story of a soldier" "stand up, stand up"

all we need now is Lil Jon going "YEEAAAAAH , STAND UP BIATCHES" "ALL MY SOLDIERS GET CRUNK WIT IT"

haha, then again i dont know the real meaning behind hte track and from what perspective its supposed to be taken literally....could be metaphoric, could be an experimental rap track...who knows?

still a good track tho

Left Right had some harsh reactions when Push The Button came out. I really liked it right away. Like AnalogeSneaker says it is pretty retro, it does have an old skool quality. I myself love the lyrics, the delivery and passion in the vocals. I think the song is very timely and I supported Tom and Ed 110% for having the guts to put that song on the album - going forward like that is a brave move I think.
