this is the second in the series as sneakerbeater takes you in and around the clubs of london.

no don't loose me here i haven't lost the plot, i'm just a bit bored at the moment - isn't that what january is all about?? and this does have chemical relervance/trivia you just gotta read on

well people were interested in what tunmills was like. well you might not be that interested in MOS but it was the location used for the Hey Boy, Hey Girl promo vid. the toilets, the bar, the main dance floor. the first bit is set in the Natural History Museum but the rest is MOS right up till the end where the chems get out the taxi in Gaunt Street.

i've only been to this club about 5 times, never had a brilliant night there. once when i was outside there was a dealer trying to sell some pills, saying he did not take the euro!!! kinda somes up the club, a place for the tourists, a place for people to be seen, a place where the music just seems to come second, but a close second. the sound system in the main room is second to none, you'll never hear anything like it, but it just seems to be wasted on the ministry. the sound system is meant to be based on the paradise garage, new york city for those people that know there history of house.

the other chems bit of triva is that they play their second or third ever live set at the ministry. back in the day when the show lasted a whole 20 minutes!!!

Cool - thanks for posting about that. Last time I was in London I wanted to check out Ministry of Sound because it was something I heard of, and being a tourist, didn't know any local who could show me the ropes. Never ended up going, wound up at some shitty (or dodgy, as you call it) club in Brixton of all places. Long story short, not really my scene but there were a couple of factors that made it enjoyable. ;)

Out here in California, in Los Angeles, there's a club called Spundae (it used to be called Giant.) It touts it's wicked sound system, I guess it was done up by Ministry of Sound so I know what you mean when there's no other sound system quite like it. It's also a slick looking club with two rooms and an upstairs lounge area that has a glass overhanging right above the dj booth so you can watch from above. And there's enough chill out room on the patio outside. It never feels overcrowded and thank god for its clean bathrooms. It's also the only club in Los Angeles where I feel at home and totally at ease - it seems as though the pretentiousness of Los Angeles melts away and people can just be themselves. It's not a necessarily a niche club like so many others I've frequented.

Been to many a goth-industrial club way back when. Nothing wrong with them, I even went to one a few weeks ago at the request of some old dancing partners of mine - they just aren't my thing anymore. I feel out of place, maybe I'm just getting old or outgrew it or whatever. Well, no... I got happy - that's it. ;)

Your story reminds me of this once club in Los Angeles. It was an industrial club called Control Factory, old stomping ground of mine - really cool venue, great music and decent sound system to boot. Anyway, I remember it was when industrial music was really breaking out big, 1992 I think it was. Legend has it Madonna didn't want to pay the 3 bucks it cost for the mandatory club card (8 bucks total - 5 to get in for card members, 3 for the card) Anyway - she threw a "don't you know who I am?" fit right there in line and stormed off with her enterouge in tow.

I wish I was there to witness that...
