I am most creative when i use Fruity Loops 3.5 . Well actually that's the only software that i have along with Audacity. I am happy with what i have achieved with just using that software for 2 years now.

With proper samples and VSTi's, you can accomplish a ton :D

Mippio: How do you find the fatman compressor? I'm on the lookout for a dedicated hardware compressor for my mpc. The fatman looks good cause a) it's valve based and b) it's valve based ;)

I'd mainly be using it for drums and bass. What's it like? What do you use it for?

Cheers

Also, forgot to put my baby (monster) monosynth, the DSI Evolver on my list. And my mates SH-101 that I use a fair bit :)

yeah man, that fatman is cool. tbh i dont use it for 'bread & butter' compression - be aware that it will colour your sound, a bit like a mild overdrive unit, expecially if you push the valves. it sounds awesome on drums and bass, really warms them up. but if you want to get that 'hard compressed pumping' sound on yuor drums you better looking elsewhere i reckon.

cheers

Is it hard to "bend circuits"? I'va always been really interested by these kind of experiments (like the ones at www.antitheory.com)....

Do you have any audio samples of these customized machines?

Awesome, thanks man. I don't mind a bit of colouring on my drums, especially if it's some nice mild tube style overdrive. I rely on plugins for compression, eq and verb, so all I've really got is a few shitty freeware compressors and the Digirack Compressor (which aims to be "transparent"). I've really got nothing to work with during the creative stages of composition to mould my drums and bass with. Sounds like the Fatman might bridge the gap for me.

Cheers :)
