I would say this is the best release this year by far! This album is filled with some HARD TECHNO EXPERIMENTAL BEATS!

HA! That's hilarious but only partially true. I used to listen to alot of Dubstep 3 years ago, but the wobble does get a bit boring after awhile. I still have some favorite artists though, like Reso.

Anwyays, Benj, great call on the Siriusmo album/collection! And from what I've heard, I also like Zoom Scua's recommendation. Really crunchy, bassy stuff.

Okay, here are my current candidates for album of the year:

TKOL RMX 1234567 - Radiohead

Modeselektor Remix

Mark Pritchard remix (intense)

Turtleneck & Chain - The Lonely Island

"My dad isn't a cell phone - DUH!"

Apokalypsis - Chelsea Wolfe

"We could be two straight lines in a crooked world"

You know, I've just realized that almost all the albums I've been listening to have been from 2010 or earlier - I thought I had way more. :???:

Nero - Welcome Reality
Thievery Corporation - Culture of Fear

Good call on TC, it has been a surprise for me too!
I´d replace Nero with the Chase & Status album, maybe my favourite mainstream release of the year.

M83 is my #1 right now, but I´m going to wait to the DJ Shadow album...

just listening to the latest horrors album, skying. actually pretty good - not as good as the last one but still a nice journey into 80s indie. and pretty much a grower.
love is all.

Grabbed it on this rec., great call!

This thread is awesome. :)
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

ISAM is something special.
On first listen I was quite disappointed; but it slowly growed, and now i love it.

The complexity, the quality of the sound...this is the best album of the year for me.

I second this. Only other album that really comes close so far is ISAM.

Please tell me you two are joking. This album does not deserve to be in the best album of the year thread, unless it's been the shittest year in history, and I think we've had that already with the World Wars and shit.

It sounds so juvenile, like some amatuers from the 1990's made it in their bedroom while watching Knight Rider repeats. I just got flashes of denim jeans and mullets when listening to this album, it's the bad side of the 90's. I was really offended by it, I have listened to it a few times because I respect the opinions of the majority of the members on this board but I cannot find anything positive to say about it. It left me feeling angry. and the lyrics?! What the fuck? Mustard Poop are having a laugh.

I have to echo Iggy on this one. There's no way No Title Or Purpose could possibly be an album of the year. I've heard it, and the only two songs I'd even want to hear again are the first and last. The rest of the album was offensive, plainly, to organized sound in general. ZHM and City Kids had pretty good potential, but they were ruined by predictable genre styles instead of staying open/creative.

I could tell City Kids was going to get bad before it even hit the dubstep part, and I really liked the first minute of it too. What in the world is The Amazons doing there, I thought songs like that died years ago. Money Shot is literally among the dumbest songs I've heard. Like Iggy said, the lyrics?! And don't get me started on those rap tracks, yikes.

Donks is Gold Panda gone horribly wrong. Catch Me and Dirty Knees are in that annoying noise catagory, where it's supposed to be hard dirty rocking music but it fails to take off. And Desert Search, why even put that on there? The last 10 songs have been reckless, senseless party music, are you trying to show some capacity? Doesn't make sense. Radio Techno Allah and ZHM are sort of redeeming. The acid sound of RTA was nothing new or original, but at lest it's a step up compared to the rest of the album.

I really like The Contract - it's got a really nice feel to it. Like Surrender meets the Ocean's 12 Soundtrack.

The album's got a few moments, and it's better than most of the other stuff out there, I'll give it that. But, come on, you guys can do so much better than No Title Or Purpose for a 'best album of the year'.

i forgot mentioning here two brilliant albums from this year:

i found the debuts of Wolfram and Holy Ghost amazing, the best thing from all this huge retrodisco/italo wave. I´d dare to say they´re way better, catchier and more precise than anything LCD Soundsystem have ever delivered, but i guess it´s just a matter of taste.
