Well it's hard to put the chems into a specific category because they fit into so many as their music is very diverse. I still regard them as Big Beat though.

Don't try to categorize the music. It's just very good music from the heart and not for the money.

I've heard a lot of people call the later two albums "acid house" which kinda makes sense. But you're right, one of the reasons that the chemical brothers kick so much ass is that their music transends genre, hence it's broad appeal.

I would say Big Beat, considering how most people say The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers are the inventors of Big Beat.

Which is my favorite type of music. ;-)

I wouldnt really say just those two bands invented the big beat sound, i would say it was a coming together of different bands and djs at one time all contributing. For example the boutique crew in Brighton and then the heavenly social crew doing simular things not being aware of each other and then coming together.

You do? I'm surprised because i was thinking i'm the only one who would link that together. But finally it's right, you can't put them into anything.

But i would state for sure, they are NOT trance!!!!!!! I hate this word (connecting with music)

I think it's Big Beat too. Norman Cook did not invented it ! The Chems did ! But I don't like to categorize music either, but i think they are more "categorizable" than Amon Tobin for example.

amon tobin is far more categorizeable than the chems. he may fit into many categories, but at least he can be categorized
