Once again, I'm prepared to be underwhelmed.
If Soulwax, Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers were there, I'd go. That's about all I have to say right now.

Actually, the New York festival isn't brand new, it started last year http://www.apwfestival.com/ ....it's quite small compared to Coachella (from what I heard).
Haha, Pooter isn't that asking a bit much? I mean, I understand that some of the European festivals were capable of pulling that off a few years ago, but were talking about an American festival here.

Paul Tollett - The Organizer for Coachella spoke about the flop on KROQ yesterday:
“I know everybody is going crazy, but we’re not stalling, we’re still working on the show. Everything we do is in service of the show, not in service of the announcement of the show. Believe me, we’re excited to tell everybody and we want to tell everybody, but the show is still being put together."

I'm giving this a rest.

Yeah, I just saw this. Jesus Christ--really? I mean, there's something to be said for building tension, but THEY DON'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO BUILD TENSION FOR THIS GOD DAMN FESTIVAL.
Oh, and for those of you who don't click the link--KROQ says, again, that they're announcing the lineup tomorrow.

lineup is up!
Not bad, Not bad.....but no chems :(
Posted 30 January 2009 - 1:40 PM
No Chems, no Prodigy...not many grat electro bands, MSTRKRFT and Crystal Metod being the most famous ones...And concerning the rock artists, there are juste big names AND less-known band...
not a great prog, I'm disapointed (I'm not American at all, but generaly we can how, thanks to coachellea, which great bands will be on tour in the year). I hope better for Werchter ! (Coldplay and Metallica announced !).

Coachella has always had some big names to draw a crowd. And well Malboul59, if Coldplay and Metallica are your thing, then by all means enjoy those 2 big names there at Werchter!
As for Coachella to pull off getting Paul McCartney to show, that's quite a feat.
Sunday looks appealing to me - I had to do a double take, I thought I was trippin when I saw Throbbing Gristle on that list! I'd absolutely love to see Brian Johnstown Massacre, My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, a Groove Armada dj set (seen them before and it was good). And if any of you are going to Coachella on the Sunday you must, must must see Public Enemy! I saw them years ago, as an opening band and they are amazing, electrifying, fight the power!!
That said, the likelihood of me sitting this one out is... very very likely.

Ooh, Groove Armada would be awesome to see. ::sigh::
There are quite a lot of big names, indeed, but once again, I'm left with only a few who I'd really love and a huge deficit which would be left in my budget if I went. As it stands, I would love to go to the Friday of the weekend and see Ghostland Observatory and The Crystal Method.
But, alas... I'd have to take off work, fly down, buy the ticket and take the ride. Not worth it for one day.
I'll take my SMD show in March and rock out, and hopefully Ghostland Observatory will come my way again. They're -really- good live. :) Glad to see they're playing Coachella again. Fuck, yeah, thinking back to their show, they'd definitely be worth going to go see.

the "miloco2forum" of the coachella message board has informed everyone that more sahara acts will be added. However she doesnt get specific... http://coachella.com...04&postcount=48
I kinda like the lineup a lot, except for Saturday. Never really liked The Killers.
From what I learned Throbbing Gristle has played like a total of 4 US shows in there 30+ year existence.Thats pretty damn rare...
I'm really digging about seeing Leonard Cohen (another rare appearance). I totally forgot he is the guy with the song at the end of Natural Born Killers. I love that song. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=NlNoYY6_NN4
And of course who couldn't be excited to see Pauly Mac and MBV!!!
I totally understand the disappointment in the electronic artists thus far, though.

Lineup looks kind of good, well sort of!
If there was one day to go, it would be Friday or the Saturday, but I would like to go all to 3 days but there's not enough acts to make me jump out of my seat yet. Plus, there always going to add more to the line-up later on.
I heard the same too Bosco, so im not giving up on the Chems yet!
So what about it Bros, Grab your sunscreen and come on down!
Posted 31 January 2009 - 12:08 AM
Haha, for a second there Bosco I thought your post read "milco2forum said on the Coachella messageboard..." but I did a double take. Ha! I see the name milco2forum and my heart skips a beat! I'm such a dork.
It's good to know more electronic acts will be added. There's a fair amount now, but not as many as previous years. The first line-up count for Coachella is usually a bit unfinished so we'll see.
I wonder if Throbbibg Girstle will play some old Psychic TV tunes. That would be a trip. Genesis P. Orridge is one weird mofo.
