I live in Toronto and we have some pretty massive clubs - the Guvernment, and the Sound Academy can both hold several thousand in just one of their rooms. How come the Chemical Brothers never show any love for their Canadian fans?

This is because the Canadian authorities forced them to change their name to Les Frères Chimiques in order to allow them to play live in the blessed country of Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

This was just unacceptable for them. So, it was never going to happen and it also will never, unless the authorities change their minds. You'll have to hand in a petition!

It's a shame, but this is nothing but the truth.

Anyway, welcome to the forum, enjoy the time here. Almost as good as a Chems gig.
love is all.

Soulimage.......Myself, Darkstar, Thor.....well The Canadian contingent has wondered that for many years now. You are the most like to see a show in a Canadian city as Toronto is .....well.....NYC jr. I blame not the record companies for they realize that once they bring a band here that it IS ACTUALLY PROFITABLE!!!! I blame the damn CANADIAN BORDER SERVICES!!!!!!! I have heard dozens of stories about artists (particularly big ones) not being able to play shows here because border service agents get all paranoids when music people of different styles comes through as they think the artist are hiding weapons of mass distruction (in which the chems are in terms of oral distruction) and copious amounts of illicit drugs. This results in delaying them for hours (if not days) on end and charging them higher than normal GST rates. i partially think the Haprper government is to blame. They have been in power for 5 years now. The last time the chems may have considered Canada is before that.....

Yes I am bitter......

Hey gang,

first time post, long time ghost here.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents (canadian) that The Chem's and their booking agents need to re-consider the Great White North. Our dollar is better than the Yankee buck and our fans are amongst the best to be found anywhere.

I had the opportunity to see the Brothers way back in the day at the PNE Forum in Vancouver and it still ranks amongst the best performances I have ever attended (apart from the induced ear bleeding from the far too loud TURBO sound system). The place was sold out and we screamed "encore" for 45 minutes after the Chem's left the stage (and what more could be expected from your audience?).

i have my fingers crossed that the suspicious gap after Coachella is filled by a tour up the West Coast to Vancouver, over to Calgary (to soak up some Oil sands cash) and then I guess the East Coaster's deserve to see them too (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Detroit, Buffalo, Halifax, etc).

Cheers, Sheik

Careful what you say there....You have an edmontonian here. We get in a fighting mood with the southerners. Plus, the people with the oilsands money stay up in edmonton cause it is closer to Fort Mac. Mind you if they did play there and missed Edmonton I would already be down there. I've had some interesting convos with Thor Satyr (Calgarian) when he hasn't been off is mind.

Welcome sheikyerbouti. good to see you are not a spambot...yet.

I wouldn't even know where to start off as a spammer but thanks for the welcome (somewhat backhanded I suppose).

The Chem's need to return to Canada, all they need is a booking agent who knows how to read currency exchange rates. our dollar is worth more than the Yankee buck, so come up and take our hard earned and valuable money.

PLEASE !! I need my fix and Canada is a nice place to visit again. Come in the summer, when the women are wearing much less clothes.
