Best way to tell how reliable a seller is is to check their feedback. If they have 300 or something good feedback then you know they are pretty reliable :).

I'd trust eBay before Amazon.com... I won an Amazon auction way back, and I payed by Amazon payments and never got the item.. the seller said he didn't get the money. The other downside to Amazon, I find, is that there is so little description for the items sold in Amazon Marketplace and zShops. I ordered three or four things this way, and none of them were what I thought they'd be. I've never been screwed over by a seller on eBay.
