I translate the interview. My english is not perfect so i will simple words. sorry.
" after ten years of an electro-pyshcedelic carreern but suspect, we decided to submit the famous chemical brothers to a drug test. One stand fast but the other confess before the blood test. There is already the tracks titles, really explicits, psychedelic sleeves. It's simple, the chemical brothers never stop to refer to drugs. We will back on it. It's not about music but susbstances."
" ECSTASY WAS A REVOLUTION"
Rock and folk : your friends the gallahers sing "cigarettes and alcohol : first cigarette?
ED Simons : I was 14. I regret it, i'm an intransigeant ex-fumour.
TOM Rowlands : And a little boring too (laughs) ... I started at the same age but it wasn't really with conviction. It was to seems cool. I found quickly that cannabis was more fun.
Rock and folk: We'll come to it... First alcohol breakdown?
Ed Simons : At primary school too (14-15). a party with friend, alcohol not too expansive, a lot of vomit (laughs)
Tom Rwolands : Me, I like drink and smoke weed after...
Rock and folk : We arrided...first firebracker ? (--> first time they smoke cannabis)
Ed Simons : Still a teenage... I really enjoyed to be closed in my bedroom, listening to Pink Floyd or the Beatles. But i stoped, it gave me paranoia manifestations...
Tom Rowlands : You was really bugged bother especially ! (lauhghs) But Ed is lying. we still smoke weed sometimes and each time he does the same comedy :" Ohh... no i'm gonna be sick..." Me, i enjoy it. It's fun from time to time. See a journey over without do anything...
Rock and folk: Little harder. 1989. the techno arrive. You meet each other at manchester university, the second summer of love start with the famous " top one, nice one, get sorted" ...
Ed Simons : Yes we understood the question... I took much ecstasy between 1988 and 1990. First years of university, the hacienda, acid-house, and big raves in fields. It was really exciting, a kind of parallel life, an underground movement still underground, this impression to belong to a gang... ecstasy was a part of it...
Tom Rowlands : In England, ecstasy was a revolution ! when i was 15 and i came to rock clubs, there was guys wo was totally influenced by alcohol and then fighted ! Imagine the schock when this guys took ecstay, smiled and danced together !
END OF THE FIRST PART . Tomorrow for the end.

here is my version :
sorry for the typos and strange words and structures... I'm doing my best, but it is late here and it has been a busy night....(drugwise...)
Let's start with the legal part. The Gallagher brothers used to sing about "cigarettes and alcohol..." when did you smoke your first cigarette?
Ed : It was at school, I was 14. And I really regret it, as I am a ruthless ex-smoker
Tom: ... an annoying ex smoker! (laughs).. I smoked when I was about the same age, I wasn't really in it, it was just to look cool... but it didn't work out, and soon I realised joints are funnier
We'll come back to this later on.. first time you got drunk?
Ed : still at school, cheap alcohol and lots of throwing up (laughs)
Tom : well, I like to drink, then smoke joints...
Here we are : first joint?
Ed : Still as a teenager, I loved to lock myself up in my room and smoke, while listening to the Beatles or Pink Floyd. But I stoppped, it just made me paranoid..
Tom : ...and unbearable... but Ed lies, we still smoke now and then and every time he's like "ho, no, this is going to make me sick". It just makes me laugh, it is a cool way of killing time : the day stretches away without you doing anything.....
Getting harder : in 1989, you meet at manchester uni. Then comes the Techno and the second summer of love, with the motto "Top one, nice one, get sorted"...
Ed: We've understood the question..... yeah, I did E, a lot, actually, between 1988 and 1990. first years at college, 18 years old, discovering the Hacienda, the acid house, then those massive raves, in fields... It was very exciting : like a parallel life, still an underground thing, and feeling like you belong to some gang... Ecstasy was part of that.
Tom: In England, the E has been a revolution!, when I was 15, those rock clubs i used to hang out to were full of drunk men, fighting each other....So you have to imagine the shock it was when E arrived around and all those guys started smiling and dancing together...
Do you compose/write under the influence?
Tom: No. But sometimes we do drugs, when we play a DJ set, if we are not drunk enough....
But no drugs in the studio, nor alcohol.
Ed : That's a rule. that would be a waste of time.
But your music still evokes your experiences....
Ed: Yes, it's like a memory we tell about .... those nights, when we danced with dilated pupills...A dancefloor on E has an amazing energy.
Tom: Drugs enabled us to percieve music from a new approach, that's something you can't deny. Then, it is about transcribing these feelings in music, so that the listener can feel it without drugs. I stress this point, It might seem stupid, but I do not want to be seen as a proselytist.
And then, with a title like The Private Psychedelic Reel , you got it : the track is just like taking a trip.
Tom: you wanna know if we passed the acid test? Yes, successfully (laughs). One day, on LSD, a freind of mine tried to step through a mirror. he did it, but I'll let you imagine the result... It makes you do funny stuff (laughs)
Ed: I tried LSD, and I'll never try it again. I'm already paranoid with weed, but spend hours hallucinating... forget about it.
One of the most explicit reference is "Lost in the K hole"
Ed : eeer.. no, we never did any K
Tom : yes, we did! it was a party, we were suppposed to play as DJs... don't you remember? I spent the whole night on a couch, watching my arms stretching....sometimes, they were probably over a meter long...
Ed: I remember very well, I had to play by myself that night. But I didn' want tto talk about it, mate, you were in a such a state....
However, no references to cocaine...
Ed : No, it hurts your nose.
(the PR woman ends the interview, as they just had 30 minutes)
Tom : hey, but there's a lot of drugs we haven't talked about!
Which ones?
Tom : All those new, synthetic ones, with names made of numbers and letters...
Ed (interrupting Tom) :allright, we've said enough. Otherwise we'll never be alloxed in france again...

X-D Owa and Trypta Junk, what dolls you are - thanks for translating the interview for us!
A most enjoyable interview, very funny (like how they corrected each other, kind of like an old married couple hehe) and a very candid look at the Brothers!

iv just read 8 pgs of drug discussion, while listening to get urself high..
dying for a cigarette now... anyway: iv seen the chems 3 times, (and seeing them 2moro in dub) never high, and each time was so amazing, i cant imagine what it would be like on pills (always was too scared to taste e) theres no real end to the debate. do what u want, but im sure ed&tom would like u to be careful and to remember there is so much more to their music than drugs. now if u dont mind iv a essay on crime to finish 4 my politics class..............

fist time I saw the Chems(May97), I was on some fairly strong LSD. I stood in the middle of the dance floor. I couldn't move. Just stood there and took it all in.
second time I saw the Chems(Sept99), I was on 2 E pills and 1.5 microdots. I can't even begin to describe that night. 8O

Never seen em on acid... once while hippy-flipping (e and shrooms) tho, and that was insane... Only seen them once sober, a DJ set, and I actually managed to have a pretty fucking good time... well, when I say 'sober', I mean I wasn't on anything except some dodgy speed of questionable legality.

I'm the most psychedelised person I know, but I've always kept sober at a chems gig. I'm just surprised at how the show in itself is mind bending. Plus I don't want to take the chance of wasting my gig if something wrong happens. Bad trips are fairly rare with me, but I think a masive compact crowd could ruin my shroom karma... Although my attention would probably be elsewhere...
(you know how unpleasant it is to have your personal space brutally invaded when you are high...)
But If I get high in the following days I would just replay the gig in my head.. massive... double chems time for free!!

Depends on what I'm on, really... the only time I can stand a large crowd of people, without wanting to hose them down with automatic weapons fire, is when I'm on e.... when I'm sober, crowds are just mass murders waiting to happen.

Is that how you tackle christmas shopping then, stash?
The only time I've ever seen 'stash enjoy shopping is when we're out with my mother. She just goes nuts, it's like a rule with her - if she goers out she never comes home emptyhanded. And if you think I blab a lot on here I've got nothing on my mother. She engages the poor salespeople in the most asinine of conversations, and stash and I just sit on the sidelines and giggle. It's really quite amusing!
