Just of curiosity....

Are DJ's allowed to play whatever they want? And by that I mean, can you play songs from the Push The Button promo even though it's not released yet and you weren't handed a promo directly from the record label/band? Or if you download a cool song from the internet and don't bother buying the official release, can you play the MP3?



This might be a stupid question, but I don't know... :)

In terms of copyright, you're not technically allowed to play most things without permission, I thought. It's classed as 'public performance', but I've never heard of any DJs being sued for it.

if i got and i like it, i'll play it. the only thing that stops me playing something is whether i have got a copy of a tune. but everything i play is a legitimate copy, whether it be a mp3 or vinyl rip.
