Overpaid? You better believe it! Sure I could be paid better (and will be when my automatic raise kicks in in a couple months), but I am making almost double what most of my co-workers make for doing the exact same job (although I have a few more responsibilities). The store isn't even very busy.

Can't get Carling here, unfortunately, but I learned while doing a paper on the globalization of the beer industry that Carling is the #2 brewer in England and is owned by Coors. So, all that profit goes to a bunch of Republicans... heh.

I know too much about beer companies these days. It's sick knowing where my money is heading (in some cases, Philip Morris.... grrr.....)

Eyes, any German beers in particular you recommend? I've never been too impressed by German beer. Too pure, not enough character. Although Holsten Festbock is a value-drinking selection. But I'm openminded, so suggest away!

We should have a drunk thread. Kind of like what we did on leap year, see how many people are logged on at the same time. But we'll all be inebriated. Come on, it's all fun and games before someone ends up falling into their computer monitor!

Well, maybe in a couple of hours. I'm not drunk yet! :P

I don't know if this could work. Different time zones n'all...

This place needs a "pub" forum!

Carling is complete shit, the worst of the popular lagers sold in pubs. It tastes weak and is cheap which is why it is popular.

And whirly, ever thread is my drunk thread ;)

I mean.. the REAL chems forum meeting :o

i.e. us comin` to some place in some country at some point of time in future.. or maybe gather together to meet and go to some Chems gig.. that'd be one of the most amazing experiences..

A real meet-up would be fun. Difficult to plan, and could be very expensive too.

Experiencing a Chems show with other people you know who share the same love for them is a great, great thing!

At least the Carling Cup isn't worth crap!!! Actually, I shouldn't say that, 'cause it's the only thing my Reds are likely to win this year. Especially considering their derby performance today. To think I got up at 6 AM to watch the game.... grrr...... I think I need a beer. Maybe I'll go get a carryout a little later.

I've had Erdinger, but that was at a beerfest I have only fuzzy memories of. It's amazing how 6 oz. sample cups of beer add up when you have 44 of them in less than 3 hours..... Now there's at least one restaurant in the city that I can't go back to due to having thrown up on the table..... X-D

I wasn't that impressed with Beck's the last time I had it, but the bottle I had was skunked, I think. Over here it's easy to get Beck's, Holsten, DAB (bleh! this was the one I had in mind when I said characterless), Erdinger, Paulaner, Warsteiner, and a few dodgy looking ones like Black Baron and the like. And of course, a variety of Austrian beers are available.

The German beer that interests me at the moment is EKE, an 11.3% strong lager. }:-) That would make it the second strongest beer I've tried. Saving it for a week where I don't have exams.
