Simular to the Now Playing thread, but here post songs that you are listening to that contain samples from other songs. I love to know where certain songs orginally sampled from, and what the original songs sounded like.
Prodigy: Funky Shit
The lyrics; "oh my god that's the funky shit" was taken from the Beastie Boys track "Root Down".
also, the lyric; "change my pitch up, smack my bitch up" was taken from an old rap tune (I don't know the name of it).

If you listen closely (and not so closely) there are backwards samples in some of the Chems tracks. On BRB the backwards noises reversed have a 'normal' sounding beat. On STTS the female samples reversed sound just as strange. The reversed noises have a similar effect on Hot Acid Rhythm 1 (I like how the vocals on this B-side hark back to STTS). Probably the best though is on DYOH; the first few beats reversed is a classic hip-hop sample (also used in Missy Elliott's Work It). 8)

don't think i can get away with playing the whole tune at makoosa!!
why not?
cos i play dirty funky house, not acid house. a full on acid tune might stick out, i gotta respect the dance floor. still if people connect with the vocal i might be able to get away with it, i'll only know on the night

it's honestly not to terribly acidy. there's that one part where it's kinda like a banshe screaming and like they're tweeking some nobs but that's all that hella acidy.
your right, its not totally acidic. infact in some places its right funky!!

well i played it last night at makoosa. we had a really busy night. seeing as it was the hardest tune in my cd wallet i saved it to last. the tune i played before ebw 7 was alter ego - rocker, bit of a dirty acid techno tune that seriously rocks. but no one seemed to really connect with it which supprised me. i was a little bit dubious about playing ebw7 after the lack of response of rocker. i should have had more faith in the brothers matterial, the crowd connected with acid children. a few people came up to me while i was playing it saying they had really enjoyed music tonight!!
its really nice to be playing in a club where i can play staright from the heart. a place where i am not restricted with what i want to play. cant wait to educate the people with the new chemical 5 material next year!!!

Are you using both vinyl and CD turntables??
just my preferred format. we rip out the clubs own turntables and mixer and use our own gear. i pray my equipment doesn't ever get an alcohol shower
