Sorry if this has already been discussed yonks ago... couldn't find it if it has...

Does anyone else here hear (!) a vocal in this song? I'm at work know so can't give exact timing of the occurrence, but aim for somewhere between 2:15 and 2:30 as it's building through the "chorus"...

I love the euphoria of this song live...

PS - NO, I don't mean the deep male vocal sample used from the beginning of the song as it builds up.

"It's only a..." (bleep.-blop-boom-ba-de-ba-doom-ba (my Jupiter 8 impression) (x4))

Edit: oh not that one?

No, there is a female vocal, that is more of a "aaaahh" sort of thing. Its pretty hidden in the song but on certain speakers you can hear it more clearly than on others.

No one has heard it yet?

Yes, there's definately a vocal as Profunk described it. It's starting at mark 2:14 (at least it's clearly hearable from that on). It's appearing several times throughout the song. I even would go that far saying they used it as kind of a melody part that merges into that "aaaah". I could swear

to hear the voice's going along with these other sounds to form that melody of BG.

But that's just my ears.

I've heard this too, those majestic sounding "aaah's".

They are a bit embedded into the melody but they are there and you can hear them, especially through headphones or when the stereo is nice and loud.

I always liked these parts because I thought it was brilliant to make a melody partially with vocal samples.

yeah, this is why I'm glad the first few times I listened to WATN were on headphones, the female vocals are one of my favorite parts of the song. kinda reminds me of a violin the way the notes play so beautifully.

I remember reading this review of We Are The Night shortly after it came out. It's buried here on the forum I think. Anyway - it was a pretty rave review and one thing that stuck out to me was the person who wrote the article said something along the lines of We Are The Night being one of those psychadelic, epic albums that unfolds as it should to the listener.

This bit we're talking about here is a perfect example of what that reviewer was talking about, and it's so true for so many other Chems tunes.

It's cool to have music that you're still discovering new things about months and even years after you first heard it.

This is absolutely true. I can't imagine one song that didn't offer me new sounds that were hidden for me. It's like Easter, you know. You always find something you've "forgotten". And that's what I love about them. Their tunes will never be out dated because they have personality, a character, life.

Guess, their "new" album is out now for more than 8 months and it still isn't overplayed to me. It's on my mp3 player and it's getting played almost everytime I'm driving my car. Yay. Those are good times.

I was listening to this on my way home from work, actually. Driving along as the sun was getting ready to set on a beautiful day. Daylight savings time will go into effect this coming Sunday which means longer days and I'll be back into my regimen on evening walks listening to We Are The Night on my ipod.

Right now, that album is more like a signal that summer's just around the corner.

*sigh*

It's always great to look back on who we were when these albums are released. Every album, even between CWU and the singles, seems to indicate a lot of change for me. Wonder if there'll ever be a point when two chems albums are released and my life/job/relationship will be exactly the same, rather than flipping opposites as they have done in years past.

I don't listen to WATN (or most of the Chems work) quite as often right now mostly because I change it up in the car everyday and mostly just have my computer on random selection, but there are certain times when only a majestic tune like only Tom and Ed can make will hit the spot.

WATN is one of those albums I'll still be having "moments" to ten years from now.

I think over analyzing music is a bad idea. Its best to just sit back and enjoy. Unless you're dancing :)

Nice to see my thread has achieved 2 objectives:

- People have gone back and listened to BG

- People started sidetracking

Awesome!
