Why would you want to see Underworld sitting down if you had a choice? Strange.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

Some people who have, in the past, been Underworld fans, may well be in need of seats if they're going to a concert... ;)

@Whitenoise: Can we entrust you to make sure that the upcoming Underworld broadcasts are recorded? Can we count on you? :D

I'm starting to get all exciting about the prospect of seeing them again. MUCH EXCITE.

Dude, I don't even need to: there's three things certain in life, death, taxes, and that someone in the Born Dirty community will make a perfect lossless copy of any upcoming Underworld live show. I'll get a link for you guys from them. However I might be recording the show to cassette tape, because I found a tape dubbing deck from the 80's in my Grandma's basement and I'm a hipster I want to try it. You guys can have that copy digitized if you want.

That being said I'm still staying up for the live broadcast. It's at 5am here but whatever. I'll sleep when I'm dead.

It seems there will be vision as well as sound for this one.
6 music
I remember the band did a live session before at Mada Vale for John Peel's show back in 2003. I remember it quite well because Mr Peel (RIP) had a small invited audience at Maida Vale that night (perhaps 30 or so people), and I was among them, on a small balcony looking straight down on to the heads of Rick and Karl (and their equipment). Quite enjoyable that one. I wonder if this comes across as a bit smug...

Lucky bastard! That's one of their best sets ever, legendary performances of Jumbo, Trim and Born Slippy .NUXX 2003.

For UK people who like watching this stuff on a TV screen, BBC red button (aka Freeview CH 601) from 7pm tonight. I think they'll loop it through to tomorrow morning.

Seems there was an audience for this one too (a bit bigger than '03). Guess I missed the opportunity this time...

The audio replay is on 6music @2:09:00: http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b04kp1nz

Dark and Long
Dirty Epic
(break)
Two Months Off
Scribble
Born Slippy
(break)
Jumbo
Rez/Cowgirl

The last two tracks aren't available yet since they ran over the end of Laverne's show, they're on "Radcliffe and Maconie" which hasn't been put up on iPlayer yet. I'm not sure anyone recorded the show as it was being broadcast (including me, since I slept through the thing  ), so there aren't any quick and dirty recordings of the whole thing.

Also there are video clips of Dark and Long and Born Slippy and the whole show in video should be available on iPlayer at some point.

Well I managed to watch the whole live feed, but I didn't record it, sorry!
Can anyone recommend good software for recording this sort of thing? Who knows maybe the Chems will do something like this when they release the next album...
Karl mentions (as he did on the B Traits radio show) that he and Rick have been back in the studio and have started to work on new stuff which they're excited about. It was nice to hear Rick doing some of the talking both before their set and during it.

At the risk of being pedantic, it was Cowgirl without Rez really today.
And Cowgirl came before Jumbo. Jumbo was the last track; a sort of come-down track on this occasion.

I'm watching and attempting to record the TV feed from the BBC red button at the mo. My Freeview Plus box (like a shit Tivo, Americans!) isn't high def (no HDMI socket). It also seems to be confused by the lack of end time for the program. Also I don't know how to get the recording out of the tv box and into my Laptop. May not be worth trying if some smarty pants on Dime or Born Dirty already knows what they're doing...
The BBC have chosen to edit out Dirty Epic, Scribble and Jumbo for the TV version. Bit of a shame considering it's on a loop till 11am tomorrow. They're not exactly pressed for time...

@ Skyscraper: Depending on what soundcard you have, you can use Audacity and set the recording input to be "Sound Mix" or "Stereo Mix", or something like that, it differs between systems. This allows you to record exactly what you hear coming out of the speakers or headphones. Not all computers can do this unfortunately (my new one can't), you can get around it if you run a male-male cord out the out and in the in jack, but you lose some integrity at that point. Or just do what I was going to do and record it to cassette tape!

oh also:

Mini Documentary: We made a short film in two parts, of Rick and Karl looking back over the past 20 years of Underworld, dubnobass and beyond….. Part 1 & Part 2

and:

Quote

Saved From the cutting room floor mix: This is a little mix that we put together in the studio of stuff from the dubnobass era that didn’t make the album or the reissue…but is a nice little romp through that time and contains some alternative views of tracks you’ll know well. Check it out here.

6mix for BBC 6 Music: The folk over at BBC 6 Music asked us to put together a mix of tracks from back in the day that were important to us, the scene, people around us and were and continue to be influences for us. Featuring tracks by Global Communications, Future Sound of London, Hardfloor and Planetary Assault Systems it’s an excellent way to groove away those winter chills. Unfortunately, the BBC “listen again” stream has expired – but we’ve posted the raw mix, without Karl’s intros and voice overs on mixcloud, listen here.

Until next time….stay warm, rave safe
