hahahaha! "I'd Like To Get Lucky" is what I'm hearing.

@Chops Backwards for me. I liked Discovery instantly, but it took me ages to get to appreciate Homework.

I worried that discovery was a bit of a sell out at first but then when listened to as a whole a few times it was clear they were just referencing different stuff to homework and got in to classic soul and disco a bit more. And it made even more sense after listening to the live album. Which incidentally is the best live album of all time.

Didn't even recognize the name before seeing that post. Watched the doc last night. Now feel like a fool for listening to Nile for years and not realizing. That was a fantastic doc.

Found this NME story (below) that now starts to peak my interest. Moroder, Rodgers and Chilly Gonzalez potentially on producing credits? Still not going 'coke head EDM kid mind explosion OMG' over the album. I am more interested from a production side now.

Niles Rodgers and RAM

If your interest in Nile Rodgers has been piqued, I'd recommend taking a look at his autobiography "Le Freak". He chronicles his story from an eccentric childhood all the way up to modern-day, with plenty of stops along the way for an inside look into the records he's worked on and the people he's worked with, and tells it in a remarkably down-to-earth manner for a guy who's had such a huge hand in shaping modern pop music. You can read some pretty large excerpts on his site if you're not convinced.
Also, the latest scoop from The Daft Club is that this song might be the only sample on the record. If so, don't forget that you heard it from Champi first!

The album is 99 percent sample-free? Hmmm!

My thoughts on DP is that I can't say i'm a big fan like Champi, nor even a average fan, but I do like some of their stuff and thoroughly enjoyed Alive 2007, (even though I terribly, terribly regret not seeing them that year due to human error) but I think their collab with Nile will open up other artists and producers to catch the 'disco' bug (if you can call it that) and abolish any remains of the EDM trend.

Just watched it myself after recording it on Friday. At the risk of turning myself into a TV guide, it's on again tonight at 11.45 for those who missed it.

Have you missed the other posts?! Nile Rodgers and Georgio Morodor are collaborators on this album... I wasn't aware of Nile's amazing talents until I watched that documentary posted above, even though I knew a lot of his work.

In regards to the short sample, I really want to hear more because it's got me!

Chilly Gonzales is another collaborator too. If you don't know much about him.....well look him up. I'm not sure what you'll find....classical piano, comedy rap, electronic music, or a film about chess. But anyway, he's something to be excited about. Here's a previous collab they did anyway......

And when it does, how long it will last? It give it a good 2 years tops.

With all this hype, DP will paying in pennies just to get the mega publicity, and it's because were doing all the work (duh!)

But that vid made me more interested for the album.

there's a story about Lee Mavers from the La's refusing to use recording gear that was manufactured any later than the 60's, and sprikling '60's dust' on things, to capture that 60's sound

I fear Daft Punk may have fallen into this trap. I hope they remembered to write some good tunes along the way.

Wasn't Chilly Gonzales the one who worked couple of times with Feist?

Yep. He's part of the clique that revolves around Fiest, Jamie Lidell, Peaches, Mocky.

Here he is on a track I love (What is it this time) with Jamie Lidell.

Here is a piano battle he did against Andrew WK a few years back at Joe's Pub.
