You answered that one yourself, it's the four-letter word. A desperate attempt to add any kind of shock value to the show. All carefully scripted and adequetly boring.

Ok Calm down people....i like punjabi Mc. and no he is not a one hit wonder ask any indian dude and he will tell you how his bhangra-dance fusion makes them feel on the dance floor. Well you can ask me -> Fuckin great...those bhangra beats are the ultimate beats. ( by no means better than chemical beats, ofcourse). He is just an ok artist with a lot of people behind him and other than that i don't respect him much either. Moby - he can get stomped by Obie. Moby's music has taken an interesting turn...going too much in the trance shit...Junior Senior...well i can't say anything bout him....

oh come on you cant really believe that the punjabi mc is a serious dance artist??? your shitting me??? the dance industry is soooo big and you get a nomination like that, its a fuckin joke!! i would have had more respect if dj sammy won it. atleast he would have won it on his on credit and not thanks to the peugot 307 or whatever. if you wanna listen to some propper asian beats listen to 'indian ropemans' album from a few years back, that was an inspiring album. pete tong mentioned on his show tonight that tom had a few words to say about punjab mc winning best dance. i think that says it all
I'm a fuckin doughnut

I have listened to Indian Ropeman's Elephant, and it's great..and just because Tom doesn't like Punjabi Mc that doesn't mean i don't like em. I admit that he is nowhere near the chems but still his style that i am familiar with because i am an indian as well. So it's nice to see that Bhangra is getting recognized internationally and peopel consider it as a dance subgenre or whatever. I also admit that Punjabi Mc is not the best Indian dude around but he still carries on the legacy of Asian music after so many years of hard work...He is making it mainstream that's what cool bout him or accidently made it mainstream while sampling knight rider.

Personally i think he is better than Dj Sammy. IMO.

If you do not believe in music genres then do not read this post!

I personally have no problem with Punjabi MC, it just pisses me off when a non-dance artist wins a dance award. To me Punjabi MC music is a type of asian hip-hop.

Even if an act like Basement Jaxx for example (who I don't like), win the award at least they are a dance act. Kylie isn't and Punjabi MC isn't. I think the best dance act category is now just another award for pop artists.

I stoppped watching MTV dance ages ago because they just play pop music all day.

Anyway, I don't know why I'm bothering to complain, I don't even watch MTV - its crap! }:-)

btw, Kraftwerk were awesome! Love their big room-filling sound :).

Sorry if I offended anyone when I said MTV is crap, that was just my opinion. Ignore me :-|.

Mtv sure ain't what it used to be, that's for sure. I mean, the times are always changing and MTV does try to keep things edgy and fresh or whatever - I just don't care for the changes or maybe I'm just getting old and pulling a "way back in my day" excuse for not bothering with the station but... Bring back the almost nonstop music videos, at least bring back AMP but at a decent hour or (to my cable provider, them bastards) give me Mtv2!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I just saw the chems perform The Golden Path on The MTV Europe music awards shown on Channel 4. It seemed to have an element of cheese and tom and ed at the forefront, what's going on! it's not normal!

-> Perhaps they were told they had to have a stronger stage presence for the show.
