so, last night went to see carl crig.
after the obligatory 'few pints' at the pub we headed to the club, early ish, 11.30, anticipating roadblock ques ahed of the detroit legend.
arrive - no que. strange. head inside, not many people there, maybe 30 or 40, dancefloor conspicuously absent. at this point i start cursing brightons lethargic club scene and general lack of good taste.
have some more drinks, sit about have a little natter etc. finally we find set times and find out he is on at 6.00am!!! 8O i also have to be in work for 10.00am, so this makes things a bit tricky.
head back to mchebnes house to indulge in further booze/other bits adventures (stay in club with no people paying lots of money for drinks or go home and come back and get pissed for 1/4 of the price - i think we made the right choice ;))
get back to the club at 5.30am, and its a bit fuller - not loads it has to be said but at least theres some vibe.
Carl Craig came on just after 6.00 and HE TOTALLY FUCKING ROCKED IT. Like absolutely tore the place apart. heavy heavy tech funk, bleepy bits, lush bits, grinding bits, 2 mins of noise/cars goiung passed then more killer jack. i didnt reckoginise that many of the tracks, (which is a good thing imo!!) but he def played all 13 moins of audio - mouth to mouth - i woudlt be suprised if the chems drop it nye actually, its quite 'them'
set finished - 8.15am. time back in work at norwich union - 10.00 am. time finished work - 3.00pm. time in bed - 5.00pm. timw woken up today hahaha 9.00am 16 hours sleep hahahaha
this man deserves respect. i think ive got a new hero. (not that he wasnt before but this was THAT good not even an ambivalent brighton crowd could destroy it ;))

yeah he was ace. the venue as ever was shite. no atmosphere at all.
as a producer he's stunning, one of my all time faves but djing wise he can be a bit variable.....he didn't dissapoint this weekend.
good solid trippy techno action and like a lot of yank dj's (del carter etc) he just seemed to work the groove splendidly. made me chuckle as he dropped his first track and was working the bass e.q whilst eating a sandwich.....looking fairly bemused, peering out at the floor.
and what a seedy bunch of sharks there were too. 8O ..'spose it was 6am
after the raft of amazing remixes he's done recently (terry brookes/aaron soul - city life, theo parrish - falling up, x-press 2 - kill 100 etc) I'm hoping for some new c2/paperclip people/innerzone orchestra material soon.
top night tho' - carl craig is most def house!

weirdly enough there was no classics section at the end this time - he took it really dark for the last 20 mins (smoke machines & strobes), gave it a bit more techno welly then just kind of left X-D
and yeh him eating the sandwich was well funny - i wonder what was in it - probably 909 ham or 808 beef or something.
i just remembered the reason i did 5 hours at work was because it was just me and a girl i quite fancied in - i spent my time seeing how much office gubbins (stapler coffee tray etc) i could balance on her head X-D
