My prayers have been answered — Orbital, my second favorite electronic-music-gods duo, are back on tour! I'm coming to see them play the Selector festival this Saturday.

Meanwhile, you can check out their new live setup at Loopz website:

Oh yes--I've been rejoicing this for a little while now. :D

I do hope they play in the U.S.

I'm seeing them at Leeds Academy next Thursday, mainly out of interest I'll admit but looking forward to it all the same.

Definitely give us a review--I'm sure there are a few of us who are wondering how they are after all of these years.

I'm back. It was awesome.

First day had a perfect lineup. Fischerspooner with their magnificent costume-changing, mirror-shining stage show, four Franz Ferdinand guys bashing on a single drum kit, going from pop songs to arpeggiator-driven synth solos and finally Royksopp that completely forgot they're supposed to be a downtempo band and delivered a banging dirty MS-20-squelching mayhem.

Second day was all about Orbital. It was a stunning, top-notch performance from the “Time Becomes” loop to the closing chords of “Doctor?”. There was no new tunes (and I guess there won't be), but all of the songs were given a major face-lift, flowing beautifully, hitting hard and inducing nostalgic euphoria. Orbital are as good as ever — it's a crime to miss one of these comeback shows.

Tracklist:

Time Becomes

Lush 3

Impact

Remind

Satan

Belfast

Chime / Chime Crime

Know Where to Run

Halcyon

One Perfect Sunrise

The Box

Doctor?

yer i was at the Leeds gig- It certainly made me appreciate Chems even more(if possible!) dont get me wrong im sure 15-20 years ago i would of been loving it but definitely not my cup of tea though i did enjoy the gig for pure comedy value. - Do you know the name of the band on beforehand - only caught the tailend of them but thought they was good. Dave Beer was at the bar throughout the gig doing what he does best- been a wrong un.

Orbital should go back to their day jobs that gig in leeds was a joke. It's fair to say their music is very dated i couldn't believe people were going crazy over the dr who theme tune.

Bummer. :-(

With the uprising joy of fans, there is bound to be a bit of negative reaction as well.

From the footage I've seen from the gigs so far it looked massive, but I can't disagree about the dated sound on some of their tracks.

The support band was called Delphic, I though they were pretty good.

I really enjoyed Orbital. I'm only familiar with maybe a quarter of their stuff but I loved their old school synths (303?) and drums. Favourites for me were Lush, Satan, Belfast, Chime, Halcyon and Doctor? (erm that was about half the set but never mind lol) Haven't heard Doctor before and apart from Chime and Halcyon I'd forgotten the names of the others which I have on the Work 1989-2002 album. Good crowd apart from some dickheads behind me who kept pushing past me back and forth to chat/mess about with their mates in front (why do these people go to gigs?).

Anyways some pics if I can remember how to post them on this technically un-user friendly place:
