Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

I'm coming all the way from Helsinki by trains, which is going to take around 48hrs. So, yes, let's add Iceland on the list of tewwowist states. My long week in London will turn into a short Interrail trip through Scandinavia and Western Europe. But wait... that's actually more exciting!

Yep! Mine still hasn't made it overseas, even though it was shipped on the 14th!

I'd be bitching too if I was grounded at the airport for days. So far, some of the airlines have done test flights without passengers.

I blame earth on this one, not Iceland. Iceland has gotten a bad rap the last few years. With their economy going to the dustbin a few years back, and now these crazy (But AWESOME! in the true sense of awesome) volcanos, they are having a hard time. Any country that can produce a killer electro act like GusGus can't take all the blame.

I'm not well versed in these matters, but isn't Iceland's banking thing a result from having good-natured trust in United States banking and business? So really, thats not too much their fault but America's, if that is the case.

You know what, lets blame America for the volcano eruption too. Heaven knows we deserve it ;-)

As much as I understand your worries Chemdup, Iceland is pretty cool (geddit?).

I'll drive over if I have to but bags-not paying congestion charges.

Check out the photo of Tom and Ed used in Dublin's Metro Herald today.(metroherald.ie and then page 4) It's used in a spread about the volcanic ash and the flight ban and how the Chems did fly by private jet to the gig in Milan last Thursday. The photo looks like the 2 lads just climbed out of a volcano!
