how long is a piece of string???
if the music is still working for them and their fans then why can't it go on for a long time??? i mean there are other factors like touring. it must be very tiring after you been round the world a few time over the last 10 years. but i'm sure tom and ed know in there heart how much they want to tour. thats why i think the come with us tour was relatively short.
i'm sure when 'the chemical brothers' as a band stop making music, that tom and ed will continue to work as producers to other people. or atleast i hope they do.
but whats the point in speculating about how long a band is gonna last?? life to short for worring about things you have no control over.
for now lets just enjoy the music.

Well said punk!
Anything has to run it's normal course. Deep in my heart I want the Waters' Floyd n the Chems n many bands go on n on, but I just hope I do get to see Chems live once before they ever call it a day if they have to. Their contribution to my life's always gonna stay, n their music will always be timeless to me. Just hope there's shitloads more! :)

oh yeah and weren't there people saying when 'come with us' came out that i would be there last album, and they were wrong!!!
here is an extract from an interview in jockey slut they did for the promotion of the singles collection
"It's the beginning of our name; you can see the 'c' and the 'h'," explains Ed Simons, reffering to the cryptic artwork for the cover of The Chemical Brothers, ten years singles collection, 'Singles 93-03'. The idea, he continues, is that you'll be able to read the whole name when you put all future collections together.
not the talk of a band recording their final album is it??

I dont know like i said it's just a feeling i get from recent interviews that they said they would like to get more into producing other bands, i hope they do another two or three albums at the most i think they might do another one after the next, i mean this is gonna be there fifth album thats quite a lot of albums. Anyway im sure we'll get a lot of joy out of whatever they come up with next whether it be one album or however many they do. :)

yep, it's a crap topic. some people always want to look at the negative. it's people like griffin who say 'the end of the world is nigh'.We're talking about a fucking band here not the end of the world, can i not post my thoughts negative or positive without people calling me a prophet of doom

I'm with sneakerbeater's first post on this topic. I also remember talk of this sort back on the old board.
I don't think anyone here's a prophet of doom nor is anyone being negative, necessarily. I just think it's human nature to not want a good feeling slip away, or not wanting an end to something that gives you joy. But it's also human nature to contemplate the eventual. I think there will come a time when Tom and Ed call it a day. It's... inevitable - I just hope they hang on til anType and the others get to see them do their thing live before that happens! ;)
At any rate, I will enjoy their music here and now because that's all I can do. If they were to call it quits tomorrow, I would still have their music -and those memories the music have given me - to carry me through my time on this earth. I can't ask for anything more than they've already given me and would wish them well when they step off the path they're currently on. I do hope they'd continue onward in music somehow - through producing, contributing samples and loops and whatnot... being a part of something more behind-the-scenes rather than in the forefront like they are now. I can't see them ditching music altogether as it just seems like it's a part of who they are as people...
