*bump*

My feelings are the same now as they were then.

Any changed minds here, especially now that we have more traffic?

How about some of the newer people that are silently frustrated (or not ) - what are your thoughts? Don't be shy now. ;)

a discussion about a forum split might be pointless if we don't know how and what it should be split into.

we should have a chemical talk forum only concerning chemical brothers matters like releases, videos, new songs and chemical questions. probably a section for concerts and sets could be included, otherwise i'd vote for a special live and sets forum as well, only for past, actual and upcoming concerts, tours and sets incl. questions about them.

next, there should be a general off-forum for all the "bullshit" (hello to jeanie) that is posted. including a marketplace-section where everyone can offer their chemical brothers stuff they don't want any longer or give links to chems sales, incl. tickets etc.

the archived forums suggestions for singles CD and come with us should be closed. their content should not be deleted but just closed. relevant content could be copied in one of the other forums

i might have forgotten something... so, c'mon!

The problem is that so many of our threads veer unexpectedly off-course that it's difficult to determine where some threads belong. A thread might begin on getting stoned as fuck and end as a discussion about the merits of 'Power Move' versus 'Rize Up'. Or, begin as a discussion about which remix is the best and end up discussing Zimbabwean tourism.

Personally, I don't see this as a bad thing; I enjoy the eccentricity of the forum, though I can understand why some like a little more order.

Peronally , i think the msgboard is good this way , mainly just cause i am used to it...and Dark makes a good point , almost 50% of our threads are about 10 different subjects at the same time.

Should we re-organize the Forum , i think Goldenboy made quite a good set-up.

And we REALLY should keep the Bullshit thing in...i mean , it works obviously , we kinda try to keep all the useless i-am-bored-let's-talk-about-transformers talk in one thread , without opening a new tread for it...But a WHOLE Bull-section might be...to much.

i think an off topic section would be cool.

but like darkstar says, i quite enjoy the random eccentric flavour of it, keeps it interesting.

so, erm, i dunno really.

haven't been here long enough to offer any real conversation, but i think the forum works. Though, I think an active moderator presence could help reduce some of the choas. weed unecessary threads and close resolved ones. granted this would take a volunteer(s) time and effort.

I'd keep the archives just rename it to the 'dust bin' or something, then when ever a thread gets old, a moderator could close it and move it there.

It needs a lot of tidying, instead of the four there are already there should be double that, it would not matter if some did not get posted in very much it would just mean those were topics that were not as relevant and are the one that would be best filed to the side anyway.

Maybe somethings like...

Chems Sound & Image

Albums, singles, bootlegs, videos, pics, etc, etc.

Chems Live

Everything about live stuff, asking other people if they're going to X place, where are they going to play, sets, etc.

Offtopic

Everything non chems related, even other bands, but remember this is chem's forum and not Christina Aguilera's forum (thank God for that).

But please, don't fill it with bullshit. :)

I think the forum is just absolutely fucking perfect.

Yes, off topic discussion occur, and they're completely necessary. How many times can you really say "WOW! I LOVE THE CHEMS!" "YES! I LOVE THE CHEMS TOO!" "GREAT, LET'S SUCK EACH OTHERS DICKS OVER HOW MUCH WE LOVE THE CHEMS!"

seriously, how much discussion you can have about a band that only has 4 full length studio albums?

.....five albums........ *coughcough*

But the point stands. I would worry that the Chemical-related forum would stagnate in comparison to the bullshit forum. I know I don't read/post Chemical Sets nearly as much as Chemical Talk and I spend (seemingly) half my waking hours on here.

it all depends on the members. those of us who only want to share bullshit and other *ahem* interests with other chems supporters can visit their off topic forum and anyone having a question can go to the chems-related one.

i don't think it would be too much work to have some extra mouseclicks to browse between different forums

Pretty much. Could reach absolute perfection if some members were destroyed and the forum used some better PHP script.
