griffin Escribi:

Hey electronicbattlewarrior that sounds like an irq sharing problem type it into google to find how to sort it.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I kinda doubt it though because I had an old computer (that used the same CD drive) and then I built a new computer and reused the old CD drive and it still does it. I'll check it out though, It would be bad ass if i could get it to work.

why spend money on something I wont use? It runs data cds fine, and that's all I use it for.

Oh, I missed that. If it runs data CDs, I'm not sure what's going on. Err, new drivers, different programs to play them, other than that I'm running out of options.

IRQ problems are rare in this day in age, they went out with Windows 95, rarely seen in 98, and almost never after that

I run XP pro and it's been doing this for a while (across multiple machines).

Have you tried new drivers for your A) CD-ROM drive and B) Your sound card? Go to the manufacturers website and get the latest ones.

Other than that, try different programs, like Media Player, RealPlayer, Winamp, and so on.

check check and check

The problem has accurred on 2 different sound cards, 2 different installations of windows and on a plethora of media players. It wont rip cd's either but I'm not sure if that's just copy protection.

It's just probably gone bad. I was probably moving the computer around and maybe something was knocked internally and the laser doesnt read 100% accuatlely anymore

If it reads data CDs fine though, that's usually the test. Data CDs read quicker than audio (audio only operates at 1x), so errors show up worse with data CDs.

If you go into Media Player, Tools, Options, Deivces, dbl-click on your CD drive, check that both options are either A) Digital w/error correction or B) Analog.

Other than that, I'm really stumped!

I just dropped him a line to see if he's OK. Hopefully he'll be back, I'm starting to get a little worried. :(

Maybe he's busy with school or is plotting world domination.

Didn't he say he got a girlfriend?
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.
