Brothers and sisters,
It is again that time of year where we wonder: what were the 10 best albums this year? Was it a good year in music history? I've took the liberty to kick off with the 10 things I liked most in no particular order yet. so here it goes: the 10 of 2014!
Aphex Twin - Syro
Mr. Scruff - Friendly Bacteria
Simian Mobile Disco - Whorl
De Huilende Rappers - Verkleed Als Sukkel (Dutch Rap album by the guys from Noisia)
Bonobo - The North Borders
Mark McGuire - Along the Way
FSOL - Environment Five
Martyn - The Air Between Words
Phaeleh - Somnus
Teebs - E S T A R A
honourable mentions:
Opiuo - Mekari
Basement Jaxx - Junto
The Crystal Method - The Crystal Method
Luke Vibert - Ridmik
To conclude: It wasn't an exceptional year, the anticipated work such as the new aphex twin was solid and so was Mr. Scruff and SMD. But compared to last year (Daft punk - RAM, Daniel Avery - Drone Logic, BOC - Tomorrow's Harvest) I think this year performed slightly lower than last year.
As we've got 20 days left in December: what did I miss and should I really give a spin this year?

2014 was not a particularly good year from my point of view... I don't even know if I can put up a top 10. I'll do at least a top 5, here we go !
1. Dorian Concept - Joined Ends

http://soundcloud.com/dorian-concept/dorian-concept-draft-culture
2. Para One - Club

3. Simian Mobile Disco - Whorl

4. Knife Party - Abandon Ship

Can't say I was impressed by the new Aphex Twin album... It was a rather big disapointement.
EDIT:
Forgot about Die Antwoord - Donker Mag. Great album.

I haven't heard the new Para One yet! somehow I missed that. his previous album Epiphanie was 50 % amazing and 50 % dreadful. In my itunes half got 5 stars and half got 1 or 2 . lets see if his new one evokes less mixed feelings.

Epiphanie was his first album, it was released almost ten years ago ! He did two other albums (well, one album and one OST) in the meantime. Club is a remix album of "Passion", his previous album

Another album I missed was Clark - Clark which is dark and awesome. Don't know how it happened as it is released on Warp.. I recommend you all to give it spin, it sounds like winter to me.

I didn't love this year for releases in electronic music, but nonetheless there were a few good ones.
1. Simian Mobile Disco - Whorl
2. Tycho - Awake
3. The Acid - Liminal (in particular, the track "Tumbling Lights")

That's it for me, sadly. I'll edit if I have forgotten anything.

Fooking nice! Thank you.
Of course!
I've seen Tycho 5 times in concert (a favorite of my girlfriend) and this last time was truly impressive--they've managed a fantastic live band, and the visuals are compelling. Wonderful to "sway" to, and creates an amazing sensation for being in the crowd. Not recommended for those who don't like to just "chill," though.

I didn't listen to too many new albums over the course of this year. One album I like to mention though, which I accidentally stumbled upon, is:
A Color Map of the Sun by Pretty Lights which in my eyes is pretty decent electronic music.
And here's a nice little documentary about the album's production process.
