I'm pretty sure they used the Nord Modular for the main chord instrument in Star Guitar. Either Tom or Ed say in an interview in Mixmag dedicated solely to the making of CWU that they used it triggered by their midi guitar.

The Nord Modular and Nord Lead are both completely different synths. If anyone thinks they're gonna get the Star Guitar flanging wooshy sound out of a Nord Lead they've got another thing coming ;)

I'm extited, I have a nord lead coming in this week! So yeah they seem to be 2 different things. They do have both, you can see the lead at the shows on the side of the stage. Forgot what they said they used it for...

Hey I've just found out that there's an ARP2600 Softsynth :)

I'll try to get it and make encore-like noises...

Bit of a classic synth that, although one of those examples where soft synths never live up to the original

Which reviews are they? I've seen reviews that it's disappointing.

That said, the software is like, what 120? An actual ARP2600 (if you can find a working one) will set you back 1500-2000 at least. Not really worth it if you ask me

the arturia replica of the arp 2600 is the one to go for, but its still not really comparable with the hardware version, imo ;)

I'm telling you, as an owner of the Roland SH-101, it is definitly that that makes the encore noises with it appreg, a little bit of reverb, and some creativity. Arturia makes some great soft synths. I have their minimoog and I love it (aside from sitting at the pc). I've been thinking of going the 2600 way. some, in fact are better. They''ve said the MS-20 is good since those things are often unstable, as I'd imagine a fossil like the 2600

I have the aturia moog modular aswell. My neighbours must be freaked out since this morning, cause I pushed the volume and bass levels and tried some of the left keys of the modular :) What I heard gave me a huge smile, and gave the walls a huge shake.

Word. Been messing with it for a couple of years now. Bloody thing locks up on my non-ASIO non-soundcard system though, so I've never had a chance to sample it. Same with the Minimoog softy. X-D

The MS20 Korg Legacy thingy is brilliant! I'd love the whole package with the controller and all. Pricey obviously.

Quite simply: shit computer, demo versions, only discovered the magic of VSTs recently... and laziness. :)
