I listened thoroughly to the bonus disc, and it's good, but nothing I'd hoped to hear from the duo. I like what they put on the bonus disc more than the actual album disc, but that's not saying a whole lot.

::sigh::

The fact remains that I'm more likely to listen to ASDR again than the new album. :-( It's just... not terribly impressive.

the new album is good if you listen to it the right way ;)... SMD still have it, you just need to tune out the vocals. It seems like a mistake they'll learn from and hopefully go back to moderation. But instrumentally speaking, they still got it. i suspect the live shows will still be good, assuming they don't let excessive collaborations alienate that too.

Too much vocal recording for the live shows for my taste during the last couple of sets I went to. BUUUUUUT--I STILL WANT TO SEE THEM AGAIN.

They're still phenomenal live. Period. (period) (dot) (dot) (dot)

saw them last night, live. It was amazing, here's the traclkist :

Sleep Deprivation

Synthesize + Flea in your ear

It's the beat

Aspic

Audacity of Huge

10 000 Horses can't be wrong

Hustler

Cruel Intentions

Are you in the Picture

System

Scott

Tits & Acid

Believe

Run

Aspic is one hell of a tune live. It sounds massive. And it's always great to hear System. I didn't like how they played Believe though.

Overall, one very good live. I hope I'll see them again soon.

Augh.

God damn.

I want to see them again. Period.

Thanks very very much for the tracklist, Ben_J. Also, how are the sets/shows going?

Didn't know about the big SMD followers here. Recieved the 2 disc edition 2 days ago. As a whole I like the bonus disc better than the album. Funny to see the mixed responses on the album aswell. My personal fav is "Ambulance" which unfortunaly doesn't have a spot in the live setlist. Hope to see them next Wednesday.

I agree, man. The bonus disc was more what I expected from their second album.

Oddly, I've been getting into "Pinball" lately, though...

You can hear Aspic on one of their Sets at Annie Mac show I think. Or in Fake Blood's mix for a radio, on his Soundcloud.

Sounds ok on these sets, sounds massive live, look :

And in my tracklist, the last track was Ambulance, not Run.

Ooh, Ambulance. Live. One of the few tracks I can say I truly really liked from the new album.

How is it?

I listened to the new album for the first time the other day. I thought it was flat out terrible. It was so bad I couldn't give majority of the tracks a full listen.I then listened to the new Vitalic album straight afterwards (also for the first time). Total 180 in terms of quality. Granted, I think the album is far from perfect, but there is some amazing songs (Still, Second Lives, Your Disco Song, etc.). Vitalic's spin on electro house is quite refreshing.

@Bosco : you should definitely listen to all the instrumental tracks they've been doing lately :

Parachute

Flea in your ear

Are you in the picture

Babaganoush

Don't exceed stated dose

Aspic (not released yet)

Definitely excellent, and more SMD-y sounds.

Their album is more "vocal" as they said in the interview. Of course it's not what everyone expect from them, but if you take it as what it is, it's pretty good. Excellent productions, some nice work on the vocals, and the singers are not guys they found singing in the streets.

And their live is all but disapointing and boring. They only play 2 "vocal" tracks from the album : Audacity of Huge (which sounds awesome in the live), and Cruel Intentions (even in live, I find this track awful)

Agreed re vocal tracks from the new album being played live.

Audacity of Huge sounds great and they manage to bring out a lot of unexpected energy.

Cruel Intentions seems nothing more than a placeholder. They don't seem to do much with it and it doesn't contribute much to the set other than a slower moment to be sped up, serving as a contrast to the ferocity of the rest of the set.

I'd much rather have them play Clock rather than Cruel Intentions if they're trying to tone it down a bit. Mmm... hearing Clock live was one of the better experiences I've had with SMD. :)

Yeah, Madpoots told me to check out the extra tracks. I'll eventually get to it.

I don't know, maybe I grew out of the type of music they produce. Personally, I just see this new album as a candied creation of their first album. Sure, I can agree they spent a little extra time in cleaning up their sound. However, the album deeply suffers from not only the vocals, but also the accompanied pop loops to go with it. And I think thats exactly what they attended, which is perfectly fine. I've just moved on with my taste. Two years back, I would have probably eaten this up. But now, its really not worth my time.

By the way, does anyone have Belvedere ? It's a bonus track I can't find anywhere.
