id say so....all these G's today talk about how much of a soldier they are walkin around with guns n woot not...

im anti-war and have strong political views towards weapons and violence...

as im sure the chems are...so the lyrics could be viewed as metaphoric and as perspective from the eyes of a solider or gangsta.....

also, not many people would be able to distinguish metaphors from real-life....especially americans...

yes im american...but ive got a european state-of-mind

Gansta or not , i think its good.

When PTB came out there was this reviews , and the review said " If Tom and Ed make a protest song - there is REALLY something wrong with the world" I thought that was wicked , and true. Even Peace and Love Hippie Tom and Ed cannot deny the trouble in the world.

I think the lyrics are spot on. Esp the "Whats the difference between Bush and Saddam , bla bla Idi Amin Fidel Castro"

So spot on.

Songs that I didn't like at first:

It Began in Afrika - Heard this on the radio and wasn't sure but went out and bought it anyway. I quite liked the intro on the full version but overall found it quite dull. I was unconvinced about the radio edit as well until I stumbled upon 10.11.01.com (anyone else remember this site? ;-) ).The first 30 seconds to the track was repeated over and over. My computer was taking ages to load the site so after about 5 minutes the track was already growing on me (the part it played is when it first kicks in with the squelchy acid noise and the zapping sounds). Listened to the full version a few more times and I was converted.

The Test - I've always been pretty on and off with this song, never hated it but I find now it sounds average on headphones but awesome on big speakers.

Believe - Wasn't convinced until I heard it live, fucking blew me away the first time (I heard it live that is).

The Boxer - Wasn't converted until the song was a single and it was played on TV and I was hearing it more often.

Can't think of any more cos I'm at work and keep being interrupted by passengers ;-) .

You ARE american! :D

Hehe - just kiddin - but if u did bother to hear the rest of the lyrics, it's nowhere gangsta and there are no metaphors - it's straight on anti-war. Check the lyrics again. :D

Yes JacksRevenge you are correct this song is anti-war. We explained to our son that the hero of the song - his brother in arms - is actually dead at the first chorus. And that's probably the fate of the song's hero, too.

Yeah, these are ripped from one of those lyrics websites but it's the gist. Maybe it's the style, the use of slang that's sounding gangsta, but I don't hear it and go "gee, that's gangsta". Yeah it is hard hitting and can be bombasitc, but that's the nature of the song. It's a protest song, and protest songs come in all styles and colors and tempos...

All my soldiers march

All my people march

All my soldiers march

All my soldiers march with me x 4

He laid on his back,

His firearms by his side

Hearin no sound

Just watchin the fireworks in the sky

I walk by

Look down he still smiling

Cause he's done fightin

A fallen soldier

Now his war's over

Don't matter which side is wrong or right

Some innocent lives will be lost on the battlefield tonight

So hungry to kill

Only his death can curb his appetite

Live ammo hit the flesh

And it feels so right

I've embellished my life

Now God please tell me is this what death's like?

???

He kept his innocence

Heavy hearted spouse

Clingin on to anything intimate

She can find around the house

What's the difference between Bush and Saddam?

Sheik Ahmed Yassin, Osama Bin Laden

Or Idi Amin

Fidel Castro

It seems to me they on the same team

They hate only lead to innocent blood streams

If it's so important

To fight for mankind

Well I don't see none of they kinfolk

Out there on the front line.

And I'm a soldier

Right here hip-hop with my guns by my side

Ready to ride till I die

And I'm a soldier

And you can see it in my eyes

Even when the man dies

They say a soldier never cries

And I'm a soldier

Until the day they take my life

All my soldiers march with me

Left, Right

All my soldiers match with me

Left, Right

I thought I told ya

This is the story of a soldia

Stand up x 3

Stand up x3

US stand up

UK stand up

France stand up

Spain and Portugal, Germany stand up

Slovakia stand up

China stand up

Palestine, Kosovo, Ghetto World stand up

This is a live nigga PSA

From the one and only ghetto bullhorn

Come to warn you

There's a war goin on outside

And you can't run

You can't hide

Left, Right in background

All my soldiers march

All my people march

Ghetto funk march

Whole world march!

All my soldiers march

All my people march
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Thanks Whirly - I guess that sets all doubts to rest about the metaphors and such.

Like I was saying earlier, I LOVE the agression and the mad bassline and energy on this song - it hadn't hit me as hard till I heard it the first time on headphones.

WOW, NICE ONE Whirly!

Think those maybe the most powerful and best written chems lyrics, doubt they wrote some or all given that I couldn;t see tom or ed putting "live nigga PSA" on paper.

Really cool though
