This is getting seriously offtopic, but weren't The Dust Brothers producing Hanson? The link to their site was floating here some weeks ago ... www.dustbrothers.com ... I read some biography page and it said they produced the infamous mmmmmmmmmmmmmbob atleast.

whirlygirl did we really need those hanson pictures!! they bring back some horrific memories, i should have never mentioned the 'H'
no one seems that bothered that tim burgess has done some vocals duties for the chemical 5 session!! hey, we had a whole thread guessing what the next album would be like. we got some real news here!!
i was thinking today at work (there plenty of time to think when you drive a fork lift truck 8 hours a day!!) how on chemical brothers albums they like to work with the same artists just as much as working with artists for the first time. tim burgess now for the second time, noel gallagher twice and beth orton 3 times. i was just thinking who have they worked with before that they could work with again?? i came up with the idea that bobby gillespie should do a track, he's only done backin vocals, his time has come!!!

Okay last boring thing of interest(!) - did you know that the bass line for Block Rockin' Beats was laid down by the Charlatans Bassist Martin Blunt? Well that's what the rumours said at the time and it certainly sounds like his playing and the bass dominates that particular track. Do any of you know if it's true?

ah, i found a review on Skidoo's 'Seven Songs' album with this little bit of info>> The Chemical Brothers also infamously 'appropriated' Skidoo's "Coup" for their "Block Rockin' Beats"
the skidoo bass line is more of a slap bass sound than that found on block rockin beats. for those that don't know skidoo its the first track on that chemical brothers bbc unreleased mix that floats round the file sharing programs.

I agree, Mr. Gillespie fronting vocals on a Chems track would be sweet! They could work with Mr. Ashcroft again, I certainly wouldn't mind. I think Beth is always a good choice, she is like a Chemical Sister and she sounds so right on their records...
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Chris posted some info on this. To be honest with you, I think the bassline in Block Rockin' Beats is not only better, but quite different. Coup is a better track though, IMO.
According to Chris, the bass notes were sampled from another track.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Hi again y'all!
Thanks to Sneakerbeaker and Whirly Girl for remembering me!
It's all true that the Charlatans/Chems alliance seems as strong as ever and although it's not quite confirmed that "Feel The Pressure" is the first release from their new "Up At The Lake" lp, it does look that way!
Cool news that Jon Brookes has been laying down drums for the Chems too because in my humble opinion he is the best drummer of our time....... Go Jonny go go go!
Also great that the Chems have mixed the charlies new album - I think this could be a great year for the Chems/Charlies.
I don't have any info yet on Tim singing on a new chems album but whenever I hear something I will let ya know!
Oh and don't forget to listen to the "Time for livin'" track off the original "Help!" lp - another Charlies/Chems masterpiece.
Now let's hear the songs and have it!
Pete
