Oh yeah, u definitely should! Disk 1 is regular infected mushroom trance.. so i gave it just a couple of spins, but Disk 2 is Da Shite my friend! Proper songs n stuff like the chems, with major funk n groove happening all over. N very progressive and transporting. Best recommended on a very good system, or headphones to catch the little genius electronic goodies with multitracking galore thrown in all over. A BRILLIANT album. If one finally Israeli act that can be compared to the genius of the Chems. So, do check it out.

Btw, Amit is Indian/ Israeli! }:-)

N yep, me hardly listen to metal anymore either, except a very few maidens n stratovarius' which i still worship, but rock n roll forever!

This sounds quite intriguing - I've heard good things about infected Mushroom so I'll be sure to check it out soon.

indian/isreali...that's a first. Back in the days when i first started listening to electronic music trance music was my scene but now i am over it. But i will lend my ears to trance once again if you say its good. I think trance only sounds cool in clubs, not in my home stereo or in my car( driving 45 mph ). for that i will rely on chems and others alike. Hey Amit I wanted to know how the clubs are in delhi and mumbai(if you have been there)??? My friends in India aren't really into electronic music so it would be useless to ask them.

No man, u guys got me wrong. I'm not Amit. Amit Duvdevani or popularly known as Duvdev is one of the guys on Infected Mushroom, the other being Erez Aizen.. the genius from Shiva Shidapu. Amit is an Israeli of Indian origin.

And I was into trance music for a very brief period just when I was getting into electronic music, but being from a rock n roll background, I soon lost interest at that constant 140bpm dhuk dhuk dhuk thingy. During my brief stint with trance, I did end up liking DJ Jorg of Shiva Shidapu fame, and Infected Mushroom. Now I can't stand much of trance anymore, since I discovered the Chems n big beat music 3 yrs back.

Hell, the Chems are the Pink Floyd of our generation!!

I wouldn't recommend Disc 1 of Converting Vegetarians, for non-trance fans, but Chems fans on this forum who haven't heard the second disk of Converting Veggies, PLEASE do check it out! U'r gonna love it! It's nothing like trance, and way more in line with the Chems. Infact it's a weird hybrid of Chems and Shpongle, if u know what i mean. Just that I like it more than the first Shpongle album, and I liked that a lot at a stage in my life.

Clubs.. ah well, they suck here in blore. Delhi n bby's got some hot women, but blore's a sad place for clubbing. Though there are regular raves every saturday at venues far from the city, I personally don't like these as mostly Israeli or German psy trance djs play at these parties. There's no breakbeat dj in this country. Think I'm gonna be the first!! :D

iguanapunk... I thought you were a better man than that, shame on you. That was quite rude.

Was it? o, i'm sorry, wait, i'm pissed, I don't give a fuk

Ooops, sorry about being a complete bastard last night, it was the alcohol talking, and after I said I wouldn't drink anymore

I don't think I was that rude, I was only joking around that India smells of poo, but their sanitation isn't quite as good as the UK, so it actually does smell of excrement.

And every punjabi song i've heard has the same beat and same effect.

iguanapunk, you know I think you're a right-on brotha...

Feel da love.

As far as India goes, I'd like to travel there one day - it's the wanderlust in me... The only thing i'd be worried about is adapting to the food and water, I've heard nightmare stories about that. My folks went there a couple of years ago. My mom didn't care for India much but my dad loved it - they've been pretty much all over the world, and my dad's quite a crotchety old bugger who scrutinizes everything, so when he says he likes something (which is a very very rare occasion) I'm inclined to take his word for it.

And as far as trance goes, I think it's possibly the safest route for an electronic music listening newcomer to take. Most people I know listened to trance first, but quickly grew out of it when they explored what other fruits electronic music offered. It is very samey, and can be quite stagnant - it's good for what it is but there's not a whole lot of variation and not enough to keep up with fickle attention spans. As for me, it's hard to break it down. I was into rock (classic rock, modern rock - nothing hard, just good ol rock n'roll) ad listened to a lot of classical too but also had a healthy addiction to new wave and all that crap from the 80's. ;) In the early 90's I discovered all kinds of great variations of rock n'all, mainly the stuff coming out of Britain. At the same time I opened up my ears to darker, more goth like stuff (before Marilyn Manson, thankyou) and then industrial. Eventually I moved away from the dark industrial and progressed into all electronic music I could get my hands on - including trance.

Anyway, I got to go because my husband is giving me a hard time now. But that's pretty much the long (and short) of it...

Too long.

@Mexicanchemical : I know the first cd also kicks ass, but since we have more chems fans on this forum, I found it more appropriate to recommend disc 2. From online reviews, and my psy-trance friends, I gather disc 2 is not very popular with hardcore trance fans, but I think disc 2 was the best electronic album of last year in electronic music. It does wear off a bit, and is not as amazingly amazingly brilliant as anything put out by the chems, but it still kicks big butt! I also had the opportunity of seeing them in bby recently on christmas eve, a oh my, can they kick a riot with their turntables.

In my brief encounter with electronic music (since goa trance is the big thing in this darn country), I have grown to REALLY WORSHIP only a few electronic artists, the big ones being the Chems (the fucking gods of everything electronic!), Prodigy ( another huge huge fav), the Dust Brothers (all bow down to the only American kings of electronic mindfucks.. infact I have a theory that they they?r not really American but very much Brit.. but that some other day ;) ), and a few other godlike acts. I used to *like* Infected earlier, but now with this album, they?ve actually entered the realm of the gods mentioned above. In my humble opinion of course. I always maintain the Chems to the be the pinnacle of everything electronic ever put out, cause they can do everything an early Pink Floyd n later Beatles could do, consistently, and at a new level. The Chems cease to be mere music under the influence. They become portals to worlds, very very amazing, scary, the works of course. One of the reasons I love the Chems so much is cause they are the gee o dees of djing AS WELL AS composing. I?ve seen good djs, n good composers, but these guys just take the big mix of both, to levels unachievable by human musicians. Infact the day we find life on Mars, we?ll also find that Ed n Tom have been playing regular gigs there for a long time! Hell, why do u think they keep screaming mars needs women! ;)

So, after all that unnecessary crap up there, my pt being, I?ll check out disk 1 too, someday when I got some more time, but disk 2 is what I want everyone here to really check out, if u haven?t yet. There are these two songs with vocals by Michelle Adamsom (she was on the Shpongle albums earlier.. anyone here into Shpongle?), which are just AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL songs, and almost as good if not the same as the Beth Orton acid/ meaning of life/ mindfuck kinda songs with the Chems. Infact I really hope the Chems collaborate with her someday. It?s gonna be a killer combo.

And yes.. I?ve heard Sun Project too in my trance days, and though they were cool with all the heavy infectious guitar riffs and stuff on psy-trance, the novelty of just that, just like trance, soon wore off. I have to admit I was more delighted the first time I heard them. For me, *acid* trance will stay to be Shiva Shidapu. Anyone heard the India Spirit guy?

@ Nerdcore : There?s nothing called a responsible drunk. That?s not drunk enough! ;)

@ Chemicalreaction : Why did u get confused there?? Anyhow check out the album. :D

@ Iguanapunk : You haven?t been to India n u so sure it smells of poo? U the man! :)

@ Whirlygirl : Good to see others here who?ve been thru the rock n roll route too! :) And I think u should definitely visit this country some day. It?s an experience all right. Even for us people living in the cities, a jaunt to the real wild India is a fucking experience. Just make sure u choose the right places n not the more popular manali/ goa/ hampi kinda regular hippie places, cause this country is like more than 2000 miles in length, n some of the more obscure hidden freak nature heavens are *the thing* for some of us chems/ more than just reality kinda people. U have to see the real himalyas, towards Lahaul Spiti n those altitudes n above to see what a mindcandy maker the dood upstairs is. The food problem is a fuckin myth. The dollar?s ever mighty everywhere n u can get whatever u want n a bit less at no big deal prices. Anyway, the good things in life never come most easy, anyway. ;)

n p.s. I beat u to u?r long post! Hehe.. I know I am jobless on a Sunday here! Darn! BANGALORE NEEDS REAL WOMEN!!

Ha! Looks like I've met my match in the long post department! Sweet!

I had to laugh at the Mars bit of your post - let's not get ahead of ourselves here though. We wouldn't want people to take the John-Tesh-slagging route and think Tom and Ed really are aliens from outer space! Next thing you know these freaks turn up at their gigs handing out pamphlets explaining why Tom and Ed are aliens from another world. ;)

India does sound amazing, it would be cool to go off the beaten path a bit and see some of these wonders set forth by the big man upstairs. I also wouldn't mind seeing the hustle and bustle of the more "hip" places in India too. Just experience it all. There are some great places in California too that really make you appreciate the beauty of nature. What's really great about experiencing something off the beaten path is that these places feel so alien, so other-worldly but at the same time so earthly - kind of hard to explain but I think you know what I mean. I suppose that's what happens when you spend so much time living in a concrete jungle...

Better stop now before I start rambling more than I already should have.

Infected don't have anything called Poing 98. The Song Pong mentioned above is on disc 1 (Converting Vegetarians - Trance Side) of their last release (2003).
