OK - so I walked a half marathon this morning (that's 13.1 miles). That may not sound like very much, but it is when you're not strolling and you are keeping track of your pace. Mine was just under 15 minutes to a mile and as the half miles and miles drag on, it becomes harder to keep pace. Mile 10 was a killer. I actually jogged a fair portion prior to the halfway mark, so I feel like I accomplished something. I do have a physical reminder that I did something that pushed my body, and that is I am in a great deal of pain. I am OK if I sit in one position, but as soon as I move, I can feel every single muscle in my upper thighs contract. Plus I am very swollen, although the swelling in my hands and arms seems to be going down.

Major congrats, Whirly! Definetly sit back and be pampered tonight. Have a couple mojitos and enjoy a fat bowl or two later on. The pain will last a few days, the sense of accomplishment will last a lot longer.

What was the weather like for you? Cooperative, I hope.

Here, it was hovering at and around -50 C this morning with the windchill. Quite silly really. Surviving a walk to the car from the house is harrowing enough.

Thanks man!! I'm literally counting down to my first hit of the evening. I'm going to have a Guiness too. It is going to feel so nice and stash is doll for volunteering to rub that icy hot stuff on my legs.

It turned out to be absolutely gorgeous today. It was like summer time was here in February and the sun was out. It was quite cool in the morning and I didn't know how long I was going to be standing around til the race started (they staggered the start times), so I made the mistake of bringing a sweatshirt to wear beforehand. Once the race started I was burning up. I should have just ditched the sweatshirt but I tied it around my waist and sort of forgot about it. By the time the bataan death march was over, I un-tied the sweat shirt and it was like a damp towel. Ewww!! So anyway - it was a gorgeous day. The marathon started just south of the Huntington Beach main street (which I know you're familiar with Darkstar) and went up the coast highway which was shut down in both directions, then back down (plus around a neighborhood) the highway again. The ocean air and surfers riding the waves was a fantastic backdrop. Around mile 4 the Sunshine Underground came on my ipod since I had it on shuffle and it was such a great feeling...

Oh, and as an update on the school front, things have turned around a bit. Feeling somewhat more confident now, just needed to give my head a shake and get rid of that nasty cold.

I received a mark on a patient assessment and counselling assignment today that I got a high A on and would be surprised if I did any poorer on the smoking cessation counselling I did in lab today. I also received one of the top five marks in an (very easy, in my opinion) in-class test for my nutrition class. Pharmacology quiz was a C+ which isn't bad considering I spent one hour studying and missed half the lectures. The way my Med Chem prof is talking, I may not have actually failed that exam either, although I'm not banking on it. We'll find out tomorrow for that one. None of these exams/assignments are worth a large amount, but it's still nice to get better than a C for a change.

I've got an exam tomorrow morning that I'm only starting studying for now, but I do have an A in this class from last semester's work. I just hope I don't drag it down too far. I have a feeling it will be a late night tonight. I have the energy drinks waiting.

Most importantly, my jurisprudence exam, in which you are required to score a B or higher to proceed in Pharmacy and which I was very seriously worried about, I think went exceptionally well. I hope to have secured an A in that. Looks like I'm stuck with this profession. Yay.

Glad to hear it!! It must have been one nasty cold to have dragged you down so much. But it's so great you did better than you expected!! And seeing as you're on your way to the pharmaceutical world, you know, anytime, stash will gladly be your pharma guinea pig. OK, maybe not the topical hemorrhoid cream part...

Don't be bashing the Preparation H. I actually use it to reduce the bags under my eyes when I look like poo in the morning. An off-label use to be sure, but it's reputed to be effective. At least as much as that $50 cosmetic crap you buy.

And I made a hemorrhoid cream last year from scratch in my Pharmaceutics lab. Never tested it out though. ;-)

Clarification there. Didn't want to imply you spend $50 on making your undereyes not look like poo. ;-)

hahaha!!!! Not bashing the P-H, I just can't bear the thought of you topically applying it to stash's behind in some bizarre hands on pharma experiment. And no worries, man. Part of the reason why my eyes don't look like poo most of the time is because I spend too much money on that girlie crap, hahah - underneath my bathroom sink kind of looks like the make up counter at Macy's threw up.

Trust me, no matter what drugs you feed me, I will NEVER topically apply anything to 'stash's rectum.
