On the other hand, a non-Coachella California vacation is still appealing, if the International Tom & Ed Appreciation Club is still down for the journey. Visiting Rodent Kingdom and Joshua Tree both rank pretty high on my to-do-while-fucked list and Laguna Beach is paradise on Earth as far as I'm concerned. Even Los Angeles is exciting (shopping, clubbing, seeing the sights I missed last summer) and getting some time on the beach sounds good. I missed out on San Diego last time thanks to illness and slumming and getting trashed in Tijuana still intrigues.
Basically, there's no shortage of cool shit to do in Southern California. The weather's beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, and the company will be most excellent.
I'm still in, barring further adverse developments, Coachella or not.
In conclusion, Tom & Ed, come to LA and DJ for us? [/hopeful] :D

Still need to get in touch with Jeanie and her friend who's coming from Holland, and poor mc marsh who's already booked his flight.
At this point, the fest is off for stash and me. It will take a lot more than "I sort of would like to see this band, I kinda want to see that band" to get us out to Coachella this year I'm afraid. (plus there's the trip he laid out this morning, "but you promised me you wouldn't drag me out to the desert unless Tom and Ed are gonna be there... you PROMISED!" and well, I did... )
Anyway, as it stands: whether or not you all decide to head out to the festival, pre and post gig the welcome mat is out at me n' stash's place.
If you all decide to kick it at my place for a few, please make yourselves at home - we love to have guests and dig playing tour guide! And if you get tired of staying at my house, then there are plenty of hotels nearby that you will have a much easier time booking than you will out at Coachella!

Baseball's about hanging with friends and drinking crappy beer. And heckling the players. And nice weather. And maybe catching a foul ball. And $8 admission.

Dude, I imagine trying to cross the border from mexico with 2 dutch citizens, 2 british nationals, a canuck, a pocket full of vicodin, a pocket full of viagra, a gallon of tequila and a bunch of firecrackers hidden in my ass...
oh yeah, that's way, way up on the list of all time worst ideas of all time.

Bosco, I'm with you on the entertainment value of baseball: not derived from watching the game, but derived from being drunk and enjoying a day out at the ballpark. I've seen a few major league games and we've got a successful minor league franchise here in Winnipeg. Missed out on Wrigley when I was in Chicago, unfortunately.

i take that back......the centerstage artists are better, however i dont know if the 2nd/3rd teir artists are as good as the one at coachella.
personally i perfer the 2nd/3rd teir artists at bonnaroo(blues travelers,Matisyahu, Damian Marley, robert randolph and the family band, atmosphere, sasha although hes probably leading in the dj tent)....but thats mostly because i have a pretty wide taste in music.

That's why the illegal/irresponsible stuff is done IN Mexico, where we can bribe our way out of trouble. Border crossings are done nice and legal-like.

we'll leave the girls home, and we'll end up hip deep in tijuana street meat!

Unfortunately, it would almost certainly be seized at the border, and pharmacists here are encouraged to restrict sales of T1 as much as possible. Doesn't mean I won't try, though! :D
Although, this spurred me to look up codeine extraction techniques. Cold water extraction is simple and can be done almost anywhere with no special equipment. We could have fun if I can get a bottle of 200 across..... :D
And I come from a place where the legal drinking age is 18 anyways. I think it's the idea of Tijuana being the Earthly equivalent of Mos Eisley that interests me.

I can get only Tylenol 1 over the counter, which only has 8 mg codeine. You would need to take at least 8 tablets to get things going which would mean ingesting enough acetaminophen to get near-toxic results on your liver.

I was just thinking about the good ol' cold water method... my friend Shane printed out instuctions for that the other day, it's really a piece of cake, altough I think I'll skip the part where they recommend shooting the water/opiate mixture into your rectum with a needleless syringe.
seriously though, crossing back with so many foriegn nationals freaks me out... we went down there with this canadian guy, like, 10 years ago, before they checked ID even, at least for white people, and instead of just saying U.S. when asked for his country of orgin, he said canada, and we were stuck for 20 minutes while he explained why he had no ID whatsoever... they eventually let him in, put it's a lot stricter now.
I'm not saying I won't go, but I guess I'm saying if you can't get back across, you're on your own. bwha.
