"Chemically Imbalanced" is not too far off. Some great new acts on that release I understand.

So can anyone help me out discovering new electronic dance acts?? Who have already released something... Through some people here I already listened to Ulrich Schnaus and Amon Tobin which aren't really my thing. Too mellow (or have I been listening to the wrong tracks??)

Who I find interesting at the moment are Rex the Dog, Switch, Jaques Lu Cont and Tiefschwartz. The first 3 haven't released anything (in a long while) in sted of remixes. Where are their own work?? Or am I looking in the wrong places??

Does anyone have any other suggestions?? I'm starting too loose my faith in the electronic scene a bit if it wasn't for the Chemical Brothers. Thanks for taking the time to help me out a bit.

Joslyn

I've raved about this show before, but I highly recommend listening to the Blue Room on Radio 1. You can listen to it on

They played a very interesting cover version of John Lennon's Imagine on Saturday morning - "Imagine all the robots living life in peace" X-D

I discovered a nice band, so i think. They're called "The Egg" (latest album "Forwards" cool are: Wall, Funky Dub, Lost Sea and Venice Beach, i really dig them).Something between breakbeats, trip-hop, rock, atmospheric tunes with great instruments. Can't describe it exactly. I came to them while I was searching through a music section of a store and was listening to several artists.

Really nice to listen to especially with headphones.

I saw a couple of dance acts at Pukkelpop:

Vitalic was awesome, Basement Jaxx is really really good live. I don't have any BJ album but now I have to get one (Remedy?). Ladytron was real good aswell. The new stuff sounds promising.

But a new discovery for me was Hacker. Dirty electro/techno. Real loud and hard. Great. Also Freeform Five was a real cool dance band. With a nice girl as singer. Traditional 80s music. The girl looked a bit like Pia Zadora :D only smaller and cuter.

You might like stuff like Manitoba (Caribou now) or Four Tet. Quite chilled but very cool. Also, I picked up a single called Start Something by Maps at Rough Trade the other day which is awesome. I don't know anything about them but it's the best thing I've heard in a long time. Also, have you heard anything by Two Lone Swordsmen? Their album Tiny Reminders is great too. It's on Warp. And Plaid - they've been around for a while too tho....

I caught the infadels when they opened for the prodigy at brixton academy a coupla weeks ago. They were kinda fun, campy, dubby, reminded me of the early acid house days, happy mondays etc. The only thing that I didn't like about them was that their lead man is alarmingly similar, both vocally and physically, to the Australian polito-rock band Midnight Oil. If none of you have heard of them, then lucky you! X-D

This may sound like a stupid question, but are Midnight Oil still around these days??? I know they they've had albums in the 90's but to be honest I sort of stopped paying attention in the 1980's. :-//

I read a lot about Pendulum recently. They did a record with collaborations as Freestylers en Tenor Fly. Does anybody know anything about them?? And is this the same Pendulum as Duck on a bike (which was brilliantly remixed by Dylan Rhymes)?

FYS is indeed a very catchy song. They sometimes remind me of EZ-Rollers.

As of December last year they are no more. The lead singer is now in the opposition party as the Labor Federal Member of Parliament for the seat of Kingsford Smith (Sydney), and also the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Reconciliation and the Arts.

Great, great band.

I'm getting fucking anoid. All new guitar bands cd's are around 15-18 euros around here. If I want a cool new electronica band album it does from 20 - 26 euros. WAY to much money for a cd. Why the hell is that?? Is electronical music being pushed backwards after a great decade in the 90's?? Tiefschwarz, Switch, Alter Ego, Ladytron, Crystal Method are all above 18 euros. And I made a deal with myself I will not buy any albums above 18 euros, I bought 20 records last month you do the math if they all were around 20 euros.

I apologize for my post but I'm fucking pissed off!!!!

The prices of electronic albums here, if you can even find decent ones, is ridiculous. Your average new CD debuts at around $15 CDN; your average electronic CD is at least $25.

Some exceptions may apply (I've gotten most of the Chems and Massive Attack for good prices), but it's pretty difficult finding good electronic music here that doesn't necessitate a second mortgage on the house.

So it's seems to be a global problem...

He recordlabels, WTF????

to quote an electronica-act:"We don't play guitars" Give us electronica album for cheaper prices you bastards!!
