I'm recently digging in the history of music for my own amusement just to discover old gems for myself. Currentyl it's The Who time and I frigging love them.
While searching for albums to listen to on you shnoob I found this opera from Townshend and it's nothing less than gold.

Currently listening to U2's Pop for the first time - great stuff. U2 meets late 90's electronica.
I always felt that album a bit unfinished. So many ideas and directions, but for U2 the album seemed to flow in a less linear way than their previous albums. Like, the first 3 songs (which I dig) were like Achtung Baby on the dance floor, and the rest sort of unravelled into different musical directions. The album felt like one foot was in the future and the other foot wasn't sure where to go. I kind of wish they had adhered to the high energy brilliance of those first 3 songs and stuck with them and experimented in that direction some more. Then again, their foray into electronic influence and dabblings had sort of run its course during the Pop era... I haven't listened to Pop in a while and should probably give it another go to see if my perspective on that album has changed.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Great album. The 3 albums of U2 from the 90s are my favourite. They haven't really done anything good since...
Like Whirly, it's been a while since I've listened to Pop (to any U2 at all actually) so I'll give it a fresh listen now !
