From Moby's official site:

Moby has announced details of a brand new album and single, due for release in 2005.

The album, "Hotel," Moby's fifth studio album, is out on 14th March outside of North America and 22nd March in North America and will be preceded by a single released at the end of February.

Recorded and mixed during 2004 at Moby's apartment, Electric Lady Studios and Loho Studios in Manhattan, "Hotel" continues in Moby's tradition of beautifully eclectic records and runs the gamut from quiet instrumentals, to anthems, to downtempo sultry jams, to uplifting electro-disco, to ballads.

The new fourteen track album features Moby's vocals on ten tracks and two duets and contains two instrumentals. This is his first album without vocal samples. Moby has played every instrument on the album (except for the live drums, played by Scott Frassetto) and is joined by Laura Dawn on vocals.

"Hotel," the album, was produced by Moby and engineered and mixed by Moby and Brian Sperber.

MOBY will release his fifth studio album ?HOTEL? next year.

The star will precede his latest LP, out March 14, with a brand new single on February 28.

The album was recorded and mixed during this year at Moby?s apartment, Electric Lady Studios and Loho Studios in Manhattan, New York.

The 14-track ?Hotel? will feature Moby?s vocals on ten tracks and two duets and will sit alongside two instrumentals. This will be the first of his albums not to feature vocal samples.

Besides drummer Scott Fassetto, Moby plays all of the instruments on the record, and is joined by Laura Dawn on vocals.

?Hotel? was produced by Moby and engineered and mixed by Moby and Brian Sperber

I don't know what anyone else here thinks but I really like his music, especially the stuff from Play. 18 was not a complete failure but wasn't as good as Play and seemed to be a lot more reflective. Anyways I'll be looking forward to how this turns out, plenty of music to be buying in 2005!

18 nearly made me puke with disapointment after knowing how beautiful Play was. I was informed 18 was just a collection of unreleased tracks (thank god) and i'm hoping he hasn't lost his touch. I will keep an ear out (c

Maybe this inspired Hotel. One can only hope now that he's lived a little, it won't put us all to sleep the way 18 did.

MOBY LAP OF DISHONOUR Aug 13 2004

MOBY has boasted of enjoying an all-night sex session after snorting a stripper's bag of cocaine.

Earlier in the evening he targeted a lapdancer in a strip club, but she rejected him because he vacuumed up her entire stash. The dance star admits: "I'm 38, but I'd never done coke before. I didn't know you were supposed to share."

After getting knocked back, the bald muso, who once dated Star Wars babe Natalie Portman, called an old flame for sex. "We made love all night," he said.

The romp followed a visit to a strip club in New York's Times Square. He paid 300 to "talk" to a dancer. But ruined his chances of getting intimate by taking her drugs. "She got very aggressive," he said.

He apologised with a 300 bottle of champagne. But it didn't work. And, at 2am, he left after soiling his "sleazy Versace suit" during an emergency trip to the bathroom. Yuk!

Wow, what a rockstar. Bwaahahahahah!!!!!!

this is cool. I wasn't sure if there many other chems fans who also liked moby. I hadn't heard of moby until one day when I happened to be watching Much Music (Canadian music video channel) and I heard this beautiful tune (accompanied by an interesting video, I thought), and it was called Porcelain and by this guy called Moby... so I went over to Future Shop (Canadian electronics super store a la Best Buy, etc.) and checked out a couple CDs and ended up really enjoying the Songs1993-1998 and Play. That was actually before I really got into Chems and I had maybe only heard a couple of their singles, like BRB and maybe LFB. Anyway, I happened to like 18 when I got it in 2002, same summer that I got Come With Us, and I found it, I guess like beatrobot said, really reflective, which I enjoyed. Maybe I was just in that kind of mood that summer - I really enjoyed the outro track, "I'm Not Worried At All" and most of the other ones. I don't know, I feel that a lot of the time maybe I just get obsessed over artists and kind of automatically take to their music. That's probably not good for an aspiring DJ and/or music producer.. I dunno..

anyway, excuse my rant, and have a nice day.

Moby's great. 18 is a very good album, just as good as Play.

Anyway I was a bit disappointed with this announcement because Moby had said he was going to release 2 albums, one with songs and one 100% ambient. So it seems only the songs album survived, which is a shame, since I've been longing for a proper ambient release by Moby for a long time.

18 sucked! We are all made of stars made me want to vomit. Play is his best good work and I dont care much for his crappy vocals. 12 songs with vocals!? That statement right there makes me not want to buy it.

The double disc thing is unclear at this stage, I just like Moby's music and that's that, but more for Play than 18 overall. To me he has made good music and performed well headlining Glastonbury. Oh yes I don't think most of you are going to like this but apparently one of the songs is a cover of New Order's Temptation.

WE are all made of stars was a good tune. I am listening to the tiesto remix right now as a matter of fact. a little cheezy but all good.
