@graysquire--sounds like a great show!
@everyone else: I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a FANTASTIC weekend with my girlfriend in Eugene! Partied a little hard on Saturday night, with the tequila and the greens. :)

@graysquire, I'm debating about going to his show here in edmonton in late feb. I just dropped money recently for Bloc Party when they come in April. Looking forward to seeing them again. Too many shows!

On Sunday we got rid of Connor's 2 turtles (aptly named Tom and Ed).
We upgraded a year and a half ago and got them a deep 50 gallon aquarium and filled it with rocks on one side so they could sun themselves and have a little room to swim.
These guys got so big, that keeping them confined in this small space was cruel. The turtles were healthy and feisty but they just weren't thriving at all. It hurt to see them in such a confined space.
We knew of this store called Prehistoric Pets. The place is the bomb! It's so cool. It's part pet store, part zoo. They have galapagos tortises there (not for sale obviously), 25 foot long pythons (also not for sale), monitors that would rip your head off if they ever escaped, various beetles and bugs that will make your skin crawl, funny cute little pac-man frogs - lots of unusual non-furry creatures except for the tarantulas. The best part about this place is there's a giant pond in the store that's a few hundred gallons and teaming with catfish and aquatic turtles, and in the middle of the pond is a large island that the turtles can climb on to sun themselves. The hippie in me wanted to release Tom and Ed into the wild to this natural lake about a mile or so from where I live, but that would mess up the delicate ecosystem and plus they'd die out in the wild. So giving the turtles to Prehistoric Pets made perfect sense. Plus, for a couple bucks a pop, you can get a little bucket of meal worms and feed the turtles in the pond which is a big hit with all the kiddies that come in on weekends. So the turtles will get lots of love and food.
So we brought the turtles up to the counter and the guy working there took a look at them, commented on their size, then told us to release them in the pond. I've never seen these turtles so excited! Tom dove off to the bottom of the pond, and Ed the turtle immediately went for to a little girl who was doling out meal worms, hahaha.
And we can go visit them later on. Not that we'd be able to spot them. There's got to be at least 30-40 turtles hanging out. Here's hoping our 2 turles rock Turtle Island.
As for the aqarium - we got some gravel, scrubbed down the rocks, filled it with water and got a couple of cheap little starter fish to cycle the environment. I'd like to get some Sammy The Salmon-esque bubble divers but I haven't found any yet.

LA cover pretty cool!
So looking forward to friday!
This week was much better then last week's, so progress has been made for me personally and professionally. I've gotten so much help from my co-workers this week as they have been strangely nice to me. As it turns out, There was a meeting on monday(I wasn't there) with all the bosses and they said that they liked what I've been doing for the last 2 years and I guess it spreaded out to everyone. So days later, I find out from my boss today that I've been promoted once more, but I will be filling a vacancy by another boss and I will have to do double work for now on.
My company is letting some people go, in which I will have to take the role of 2 jobs...
...with better pay of course!

Thanks Pooter for the congrats!
I don't have much of a cheerleading squad these days when it come to good news. It's tough when your grindin' it out there at work with the long hours and stuff. Next week is going be the test!
Have a great weekend boys and girls!

So, i am reaaaaaaaaaally super busy lately.
Work and social life. Really busy.
I even have 2 cell phones. One for work and one for private. And i am addicted to calling and texting. I spend 80 euro's a month on my private phone, i cna buy a lot of cool shoes with that.
So yesterday i was so fed up, you know what i did? I broke my phone in half and threw it away.
And it feels good!
Now i only have my work phone, wich is payed for by my work, so it's a win-win situation.
People say i am crazy for trowing away my phone, but, it's something i shouldve done back in the days when i had 300 - 600 euro phone bills :p

Wow--300 - 600 euro phone bills!??! That's INSANE.
Awesome that you broke your phone in half, though! Seriously--if it was becoming anything of a problem in your life, congratulations on making a decision to try to get it under control.
I wish my firm paid for my cell phone. Of course, it would come with strings--I'd probably have to work more than I already do.
In any event, I had an interesting weekend, mostly good, and I offered someone a ride home which they declined because I had had a few drinks. I don't advocate drinking and driving at all, but I also don't know that just because you have two drinks does not mean that you are incapable of driving.

Well Jeanie, if a demolished cellphone is what it takes to take a load off and be less stressful, then good for you. You owe it to yourself to have control of your own world and take charge of your busy life.
I can never have less then 2 beers so i'm always drinking, but I'll always have someone to drive me home. Its pretty much taking consideration of my own life and others when i'm too wasted to drive by myself.

I am totally (and I mean this honestly) amazed and shocked that Jeanie has parted with her cell phone.
So many good times... all those texts from during and after gigs, the Great Marinara Incident, and whatever else that contributed to the massive 600 euros per month phone bills...
As for drinking and driving - if it were me I couldn't operate a vehicle after 2 drinks - then again I don't drink very much so I can't hold my booze the way I used to. I'm a cheap date these days. ;)

Macy's cutting 7,000 jobs!
No job is safe these days!
At least my dad landed one about a week ago. It's tough when you see you own parents working when they should be retiring. I'm really concern for them more then my own expenses, so I don't mind coming over the house and saying 'Need some help for food, gas, or anything!'
Good Sunday of course! burgers and beers all around with funny relatives and good times. Halftime show was the best one i've seen, even from a 59 year old man. Too bad the Cards couldn't hold the lead, but otherwise GG!

Ugh! Tell me about it. It seems like half the people I know are victims of layoffs and are currently looking for work. Last week a friend of mine went to a what used to be the largest job fair in orange county - it's usually swarming with potential job opportunities but when he went, he said there were about 30 or so companies representing.
That's really a bummer about your dad, inchem. I mean it's great he found a job. but it seems so unfair that your parents are working their fingers to the bone when they should be retired or looking forward to retirement.
As for Superbowl Sunday - I thought it would be a good time to go to Disneyland. So we get there around 1:30 yesterday afternoon, and the person at the gate tells us all the lots are full except for this one lot located all the way to hell and gone. So we turned around, got back on the freeway and headed north to L.A. and got some deli food and chocolate from my favorite ever chocolate shop.

Our firm appears to be hiring staff in our SF office; at least, I met a new employee today, which gave me the impression that I'm one of the few whose job isn't exactly on the line, thankfully. Of course, when your firm's success relies somewhat on the detriment of the market, you don't worry in dire times.
@inchemwetrust--sorry to hear about your parents. That's absolutely lame. :-( You're a good son for offering to help out, though.
@Whirls--no Disneyland for you?! :-( Bummer. At least you made a good day out of it, though. I was traveling during the Super Bowl.
