Beautiful parts of chems tracks

But i wanted to know which particular sections of of a certain chems song do you realy enjoy and can't get enough of. Is it the particular drum or bass sound, weird synth, massive breakdown, lyrics?
For me there are many, but i particulary enjoy that sound in the track Piku from DYOH; it comes halfway through the track after the drum breakdown - its this eerie psychedelic rush of sound that lasts for maybe 20 to 30 seconds - the only way i can describe it is beautiful, like having a religious experience.
There is also something uplifting in a part of The Private Psychedelic Reel that comes somwhere in the middle as well, its the part when the drums stop, and this screechy synth sound comes alive until the drums kick in again - they usually prolong this part when they play TPPR live - it is great.
What are your favourite bits?

We all had many discussions on which Chemical brothers track is the best and why we like it, etc.

I know what bit you are talking about in the Reel - that's my fave part too. Even after all these years sometimes that part catches me by surprise. When the drums drop out to a minimum and what's left is that high pitched whirl... then that twinkly melody comes drifting back - to me it sounds like the song is orbiting around something that is larger than life.
Another bit I love is the end bit of The Test. It almost always give me the chills. That swimmy part at the end that that tapers down into that thick humming sound. It's like the carrier wave taking you to another place.
Another part of a song I really love. It's mental. It's this lingering bit that starts slowly fading in about 3:10 it sounds like it could be u.f.o sound effects for a sci-fi flick. It's so ominous and fucked up weird, and it just keeps getting more and more intense until you could swear there's a space ship hovering above you. Then it sounds like there's a sort of doppler effect and the sound lifts off and 'flies' away. OK - it's really hard to describe but I know Jeanie knows what I'm talking about. ;)
There's others, but I'll have to come back to them.

aside from the bits you guys have mentioned above (in the duration of which I might stumble into euphoria) I really adore that bit in the first build-up in Hey Boy Hey Girl where it feels like they're just about to max all the levels right after the last 'here we go' and then the beat drops in.

That part is like a rollercoaster!! Especially live, the crowd really feels the music surging, then everyone goes nuts and the place bounces the moment the beat comes in.
Another song that has some beautiful moments is Where Do I Begin. I really love what they did with Beth's voice and how it's gently looped in parts with all the textures and melodies swirling around it. It's like a kaleidescope of sound.

Bass - Come With Us, Percussion - It Began In Afrika, Electric Guitar - Galaxy Bounce, Classical Guitar - Hoops, Trumpet - Denmark.
I think the only album that doesn't have any organic sound is "my elastic eye"
It's just becoming an album I listen to on full blast when every I am on car rides, a great trip.

But theres a bit in One too many mornings- if you've watched the live DVD its that part. Where theyre onstage playing away and its all slow.
Then the keyboard solo [I think] in star guitar. Star Guitar live is unreal.
Theyre the only two that come to mind so far, but i could rant all day about my favorite chemical brother song's sections :P

So i'll make another monster post !!
First what i have to add to already mentioned songs :
- THE REEL-
Fuck yeah !! The part from 4.36 - 6.06
Seriously - that one sound in the background that starts at 4.51 - very subtile synth in the background , it's sounds a bit wavey.
That sound is so beautifull When all the beats are gone you can hear this sound really well. Ow man that is prob one of my fave Chems sounds.
And when the beat comes back in at 6.06 ! It's a religious experience :o When i hear that i feel so powerfull !! SO much power in that song !! BWAM!!
- THE TEST -
Yes yes Whirly , once again i know exactly what you mean !!
That paty at 5.02 - from that moment on - so many sounds , so many voices in the background. I am still discovering new sounds and words and sentences in that song. All the beautifull sounds
and the words "Now i'm home and i'm free " It made me cry many times because in so many ways this song represents a big part of my life. ( No no kids ive never tried acid ;) )
But in all the traveling i did - ive ALWAYS had the most amazing moments on this song. Seeing the sunrise in Australia , flying over Mount Fuji , Seeing the Grand Canyon. And all the sounds in this song - esp the last part ,
seem to describe so well all the feelings i felt during all the travels i did.
- PIKU -
Man - i remember well the first time i heard this song. I was in the subway and when i first heard the beat com in at 0.30 - i went ape in the subway !!
Because that moment when the beat kicks in the whole song is turned upside down !! The same sounds sound totally different suddenly !!
And when that massive breaky kinda beat comes in at 1.26. HALLELUJA! SO AMAZING! This Beat! I was going ape in Paris Subway ! Really man!
YES Alchemist !! That sound is AMAZING !!! I know exactly the sound you mean. I always rewind it again to listen to that part again. It's so BRILLIANT !!
For some weird reason this sound reminds me of a laaarge yellowish field - in africa where it's really hot. I have no idea why
- Dont stop the Rock -
WHIRLY HOW CAN I FORGET !!! Hahahaha That was so funny!
Okay kids picture this. Whirly and Jeanie : two of the biggest Girly Chemical Geeks - Both off their faces - sitting in a van with all the other Chems Geeks driving back to Whirly's and
Stash house after AMAZING party with Josh Wink in Hollywood. And we were far from sober. The conversation went :
Whirly " Yes! There it comes....the spaceship....Yes! it's COminG! Do you hear it...Yes...THERE IS THE SPACESHIP! And....it's gone......"
That was one of the coolest ways somebody every talked about a song !!! :D
And now some off the songs i have to add. I'm not as good in describing things as some of you are !!
- STAR GUITAR -
THis whole song is VERY special to me first of all. The way the very layered , light beautifull sounds work with that pounding heavy beat is just incredible!
Okay now i'm gonna have a hard time trying to tell you guys wich sound i mean.
Around1.10 you can already hear it coming up. it gets louder......And at 1.30 when the beat comes in this sound is fully developed.
Tuunuu nuunuu tuunuu nuunuu tuunuu nuunuu tuunuu nuunuu nuuuuuuuuuu !! That sound is so fucking beautifull. I want to make love to that sound hahaha !!
( And yes Mike, the vocals are amazing too ! Those people on the little station can sing so well !!! ;) )
- Hoops -
Okay so that guitar bit is just mental. But my fave part of the song is "The solo"of the guitar.
The whole part starts at 3.12 and it's so amazing !! Where the guitar goes crazy. I can sing that whole guitar part along altho it sounds weird when i do that hahaha!
It's until 3.52. I love that whole song but that part is so amazing!
- Denmark -
( As i'm writing this in Words i dont have the board here to check but i remember somebody also mentioned this song )
Oke so the part i mean is from 1.53 till
The sounds in this part are so great !! "It will never be the same nooo " And the guitar at 2.35 ! This guitar is so cool !! I love it ! It's so funky !!!
- Get up on it like this -
One of their funkiest tunes. The beat in this song is so carnaval !! It's so funky and happy and you want to DANCE !!
Yes the beat in this song is ... it's amazing white boys can make this funky beat !! Hahahaha!!
- Chemical Beats -
FUCKING EXCELENT ACID HOUSE!
Whereever whenever , if i hear this song i HAVE to sing along with 'FUCKING EXCELENT ACID HOUSE!'I can't help it ,
it's stronger than me hahahaha !! That acidy wopwoppwowpppwwooowpwowpp sound , beat comes.......!!! Whiihoo!
- BELIEVE LIVE !!!! -
People , how sick is that massive build up when they played believe live for the PTB tour ?! How sick !! I went so ape i almost
peepee in my pants !!! Hsahahahahaa :D And when the beat comes in.........BOOOM!!! Audience explodes :D
- Believe / Hold Tight London -
So the transition between those two songs is SO well done , so clever , it gives me goosebumps.
At 6.17 in believe when the funky guitar tu tu tututu of HTL comes in , so nice , and the first whale / dolphin sounds....and than when
HTL actually starts when the beat comes - it gives me goosebumps really.
- Surface 2 air -
This whole songs is fuckinga amazing. This song has the same effect on me that TPPR does.
The most amazing part is from 4.50 on. Where the sounds get very subtile.....very mellow....a bit of peace and rest...and than...
BWAMMMM!!!! At 5.43 WALL OF SOUNDS! Amazing sounds! So powerfull! I get goosebumps while listening to it !!!
- Under the Influence -
First off all - everybody always goes ape to this beat cause it's so PHAT! It's so BWAM BWAM BWAM! But my fave part of the song is from
2.40 - 3.21. That part....wauw. First of all , around 2.40 , it sounds like the put the main riff and play it backwards. If you all
get my drift. Listen to it you will know what i mean.
OKAY SO THAT WAS ANOTHER MONSTER POST!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOve is ALL! This topic is great !!!

I've pretty fond of the first time the vocals kick in during The Test. Ashcroft's wail travels straight to my soul and engulfs it, so much power.
Nnniiiiiiiiiiiice. That's exactly what I think and The Test is one of my favorite Chems tunes. It freaks me out in a good way. When I put that song in after a long break from hearing it, my jaw sort of drops a little bit during that opening bit. All around a powerful track. It slays me up to the very very end.

Can't believe I forgot Hold Tight London, that song is incredible. Words can't accurately describe the emotion that conjures up within me. Honestly, if I had to put a word on it, it would be euphoria, but that's not quite correct. A whole raft of feelings, each and everytime. Amazing :D

Whoops, I didn't mention a part. I meant the very first vocal line, both ethereal and mystical, another deep, intense depths-of-soul moment.
Part of me wishes I was more poetic in nature when describing it - ah well, just listen to it and you'll get what I mean ;-)

Anyway, someone once said to me that through my headphones when i was listening to it, they thought it sounded like two dragons fighting ! Never thought of it like that before.
Ok a certain sound that i like is in EBW 7, after the shuddering beat, just before the acid melody kicks in again, there is sound that lasts for precisely 0.7 seconds. Sounds like something starting up, like a large electrical appliances,
And to digress a little, i'm doing a degree in photography at the moment, and i still can't get enough of the sound of a flash powering up. beautiful
Also the sound of metal creeking. An example of this would be in Titanic where the boat is about to bend in half and you hear a metalic wail as it creeks. Now this memory of this sound only comes from the fact that i was about 14 when i saw titanic, and forced to. I have only seen it once and will never watch it again.
The only reason i can see someone ever, ever watching this film is to hear that sound i was on a bout. Then, and only then should you watch it, under the conditions that you cover your TV completely with dirty socks, stuff as many marshmellows as you can , poke a badger with a wooden spoon and skip forward a good hour of absolute shite, then turn it off as soon as you have heard the bit i am on about. Or alternatively, just take my word for it !!!!
