I've been waiting a few years to see Vitalic, and he did not disappoint. He played tonight at Mezzanine here in San Francisco, and the crowd LOVED IT.
I did my part and passed around a half 1/8th of some very fine weed for people to enjoy, and everyone seemed to be genuinely thankful for the gesture. Everyone in the front half of the crowd were dancing their asses off.
Vitalic did a great job of blending everything together into one seamless set, stopping only to throw on The Chemical Brothers' Galvanize during the break in La Rock 01. It was cool to hear the Chems' track sped up and worked into the song, but I'm not sure how effective it is in the end. Regardless, everyone went with it and danced on.
One of the best things that Vitalic did during his set was welcome people on the stage to dance. 15 minutes or so into the set, people were grooving so hard that those in the front felt okay to get up on stage and dance, mainly girls. I think one of the best moments of the night, of any nights, really, was when Vitalic shooed away the bouncers/security guards who were trying to get the girls off stage. You know the Techno Viking? It was pretty much like that.

At the end of his set, the entire front of the stage was LINED with people dancing, giving off positive energy to the crowd. Absolutely amazing.

My favorite moment was during My Friend Dario. Everyone had their hands in the air, so many people were jumping and dancing, and everyone seemed to be in an absolute positive frenzy during the moment. I lost myself in the moment and embraced everyone around me.
This was probably the 6th or 7th best show I've seen ever, and the 3rd best at Mezzanine here in SF. I was only sad at the fact that the set was only an hour. :-( But I do have a plane to catch...
