I've been waiting a few years to see Vitalic, and he did not disappoint. He played tonight at Mezzanine here in San Francisco, and the crowd LOVED IT.

I did my part and passed around a half 1/8th of some very fine weed for people to enjoy, and everyone seemed to be genuinely thankful for the gesture. Everyone in the front half of the crowd were dancing their asses off.

Vitalic did a great job of blending everything together into one seamless set, stopping only to throw on The Chemical Brothers' Galvanize during the break in La Rock 01. It was cool to hear the Chems' track sped up and worked into the song, but I'm not sure how effective it is in the end. Regardless, everyone went with it and danced on.

One of the best things that Vitalic did during his set was welcome people on the stage to dance. 15 minutes or so into the set, people were grooving so hard that those in the front felt okay to get up on stage and dance, mainly girls. I think one of the best moments of the night, of any nights, really, was when Vitalic shooed away the bouncers/security guards who were trying to get the girls off stage. You know the Techno Viking? It was pretty much like that.

At the end of his set, the entire front of the stage was LINED with people dancing, giving off positive energy to the crowd. Absolutely amazing.

My favorite moment was during My Friend Dario. Everyone had their hands in the air, so many people were jumping and dancing, and everyone seemed to be in an absolute positive frenzy during the moment. I lost myself in the moment and embraced everyone around me.

This was probably the 6th or 7th best show I've seen ever, and the 3rd best at Mezzanine here in SF. I was only sad at the fact that the set was only an hour. :-( But I do have a plane to catch...

Vitalic..

What genre does he play or what other bands or artists does he sound like? Sounds like your show could of took two shows to wear you out.

That Viking vid is already stuck in my mind. Pretty funny!

As far as I know, he did not bring the mirrors, did he ?

You missed great visuals...anyway, the fact that he invited you to dance on stage is quite nice !

I saw him last year (on the 21st November) in Lille and I found the show was unfortunately short too (1 h 10). He did not even play Newman :( but there is a track he played two times instead (the one he played right before Poison Lips was also the second encore). The concert kicked asses but was too short.

We were a lot to complain about that, so he decided to add some tracks for the following shows.

Btw, here is my video of Second Lives + My Friend Dario, best moment of the show : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=HB7hCIrQbqQ

So, what is the US setlist ?

I didn't have a clear grasp of the setlist, but he started off with Valetta Fanfares, and the following songs were played at some point during the set: Poison Lips, La Rock 01, My Friend Dario, Poney Pt. 1*, Bells, Flashmob, Second Lives.

I'm pretty sure he ended with Second Lives. Such a fucking phenomenal, energy driven set. Loved every minute.

I'm bummed that we didn't get the full visual set, but not that bummed. ;-) My experiences are mostly auditory based. :-)

Heehee... I edited the list after I wrote that. I'm not sure about those tracks being played. Epic set, nonetheless. :-)

Thanks for the upload Maboul The Bloke Off the Internet!

I'd love to see him, but alas it seems he is touring only the coasts and Chicago--big surprise there

PS. Anyone hear Popof's remix of Flashmob? Its one of my more favorite remixes of V that I have heard.

Fantastic to find old threads like this... There is a Vitalic show scheduled for San Francisco again, although it may have been cancelled. :-(

Would love to see him again. I haven't listened to RaveAge, though...

Rave Age was pretty disapointing for me :/ Sounded much more "commercial EDM" than his previous stuff. Stamina was cool, so were a couple over tracks but overall I didn't like the album

I've yet to give "Rave Age" a listen too. I was excited for the album till I read Ben J's review back when it was released, and then I just forgot about it. I really should give it a try since I see so highly of "Flashmob".

A good excuse to dig out that video. It looks even better on vimeo. The more you watch it, the more little things you see.

That's a bummer. Any reason given? Reschedule?
