well that's some bullshit. coulrophobia is a fear of clowns in general, not just those scary ones.
C'mon those clowns were one of the best highlights of the 07/08 tour. I liked them so much.
the acid children clown is still here this year, and I hope it will stay this way.
He's been there since 2004 right?
Altough I have to say 2 years ago I had goosebumps when each one of them appeared.
Amazing stuff.

I was not aware the clown was causing so much pandemonium at their shows, although I do recall some people posting here after the shows saying they were freaked out a bit by this giant clown head hovering over the crowd with that ominous 'you are all my children now' voice. I remember when I went to their shows, people around me putting on their WTF faces when the clown appeared. Whether you love the clown or hate the clown, you have to admit the affect something like that has on you when you aren't quite expecting it is really freaky. I don't have an insomnia induced phobia of clowns or anything, I just don't care for clowns. But I enjoyed the sinister aspect of the acid clown at the shows. I found it disruptive in the same sense the exploding tea pot visual is disruptive, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
But it's never a good thing when people are too freaked out to enjoy a concert, so I can see why the decision was made to tone it down a bit.

My girlfriend at the time went to the show in Oakland with me in 2005, and she actually was more freaked out by the "underwater-ish" shots of the girl nearing the end of the set with the blue lights on her face and other colored lights floating across her face.
It's arguable that you can show anything on a huge screen and people will get freaked out. It's nice that T&E and their visual effects crew are trying to be nice, but I also think that people can deal, too. Kids need to be protected. Others need to embrace life outside of diapers.

I thought so too!! It was a cool twist on the mega clown visual. But I think the You Are All My Children Now vocal in combination with the acid clown was more freaky and disturbing.

So lucky!
I don't know if I'll be able to get my husband to come with me to see this. I might have to go solo. Truth is (and I might get bashed for saying this and I don't care to start some cinematic argument anyway) is we aren't very big fans of the director... The biggest, main draw of Black Swan for me is the music, but I've read mostly positive things about the film so I am more than willing to be open to the storyline and of course the visual aspects of the movie. We'll see.

We both saw Pi years ago. It wasn't something we enjoyed very much, and I think a few years ago I moaned about Requiem for a Dream when there was discussion here. I was hesitant to speak up earlier since don't want to argue or add any negativity to the discussion about this movie, especially because I think this film marks an important time in the Chems career. I hope Black Swan will turn my opinion about the director around. At the very least I can respect he has good taste in music if Tom and Ed were commissioned to write some of the music for it.

I believe that the only movie by this director that I've seen is also Requiem for a Dream. I only sort of liked it - I liked the stuff with the Grandmother, the themes of decline and capitalism coming together. I haven't really done a study over it or anything, but that element of the film seemed cool. So, I hope Black Swans is awesome - I just wish it was by the guy who did Memento and Donnie Darko, because I like/respect him WAY more.
