Hi all!

Haven't been around for a while... how is everyone?

I need help! Well sort of... I'm getting married in October and I wasn't going to get a DJ 'cos I thought they were a waste of money but my father is organising one from work so I don't have to pay anything! YAY! As this wedding is already costing me enough!

I need suggestions for music to play.. I want to please everyone but I don't want to play anything cheesy or any RnB for that fact but I obviously can't play my grinding drum and bass as I think everyone will leave. :P

Which chems tracks wouldn't you mind hearing at a wedding to dance to and any other electronic acts that seem appropriate without scaring everyone I invited from New Zealand?

its a little early but thanks anyway

that's a tough one.

maybe some funky break beat stuff or good down-tempo. Acid house might give someone's grandma a seizure.

Congrats BTW!!

Well, if they're from New Zealand you can play some of those great NZ dnb artists like Shapeshifter.

Got glint would be nice.

Yeah I was thinking that... I'm off to see salmonella dub on Thursday so I can take up some inspiration...

I was thinking of having a lot of 80's music like New order and other cool synth tracks

its a little early but thanks anyway

For the romantic wedding dance I'd suggest Close Your Eyes.

Or with a slight connotation: The pills won't help you now.

As for funky sort of music I'd take Lost in the K-hole which I think is pretty light hearted.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I'd give a "no" to The Pills Won't Help You Now, and possibly The Salmon Dance.

I'd give a "yes" to Do It Again, Let Forever Be and Out of Control.

Aw, kwiddle it's so freakin hard to please everybody. It's the bride's day, so you have to please yourself. As for everyone else... they'll get over it. Eventually. It's YOUR day!! :D

Anyway I think Salmon Dance would be a lot of fun to play at the wedding. You know, when the festivities are under way and everyone's loosened up a bit after having some drinks (open bar is it? ;) )

Do It Again would also be fun. Marvo Ging would be kinda cool, too.

I'm trying to think of some tender slow dancer Chems songs and I really can't think of any that would work except for maybe Alive Alone, State We're In and Close Your Eyes - except all those sort of have melancholy undertones. I'd say if you're going to have the Chems played, play it once the party's started and the men have loosened up their ties.

Some good tender wedding tunes that won't give the elderly guests heart palpitations (sorry Tom and Ed) would be Blur 'Tender', Spiritualized 'Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space', Bjork 'All Is Full Of Love', Flaming Lips 'Do You Realize'

80's music is always a crowd pleaser. Don't forget to throw some Depeche Mode in there (like, Just Can't Get Enough). You also can't go wrong with The Beatles!

The majority of people enjoy the music you and I hate, but you have to remember this wedding isn't about you, it's about the people who come from afar to eat cake and get drunk at your expense so make sure you play what they want. If they want to do the chicken dance, then that's what they shall have.

I'd love to hear "Marry Me, Bitch" by Intestinal Disgorge at a wedding.

For some reason the first song that came to my mind was "Flim" by Aphex Twin. It's very pleasent, but instrumental.

Otherwise, perhaps something by The Knife or Royksopp would be good?

If you were wanting to play 80's stuff, m83 might be something newer but 'retro'.

Oh! Air would be good, yeah?

Umm... maybe some Peaches? Operate is sexy/semi-popular, but she has other good stuff.

If the wedding is on a weekend, Soulwax might be a good choice ;) (Part of the weekend never dies)

Imogen Heap has some upbeat tracks that would work.

"Two Takes It" by Mr. Oizo, perhaps?

For some more rockier stuff, Kasabian, Bloc Party, and DFA 1979 are some pretty funny party fare.

"My Girls" by Animal Collective. Junior Senior is always fun.

"Love Stoned/I Think She Knows (Justice remix)" is pretty good pop remix.

Chemical brother tracks:

EBW8/Saurate (pure joyyyy)

The Golden Path (maybe?)

Holden Tight London (definitely)

If You Kling To Me I'll Klong To You

Marvo Ging

Surface To Air

Star Guitar

Close Your Eyes

Hoops

Das Spiegal (maybe too "weird")

A Modern Midnight Conversation (another MUST)

No Need (maybe?)

I'm going to shut up now. XD

Where do I begin has always been one of my favorite... and it’s a nicely ironic song :)

I like a lot of the songs already mentioned, though I think you should kick Prochem in the shins for mentioning "If you Kling to Me, I'll Klong to You" hehe.

Other bands to check out:

Morcheeba

Zero 7

Lamb

.... they all have some pretty laid back grooves.

And then Bill Withers "use me" I’m sure that's appropriate too!
