I just finished watching it. I really don't understand what the fuss is about :?
Really? For me, it was the camera work, and the completely convincing picture of the future.
I really don't think I've ever seen a more compelling look at what the world will be like in 20 years.
agreed i was watching the movie in bed but when they got to the refugee camp the camra work was so riviting i sat right up in bed an actuly started sweating(this has only happned once before from a movie!) i loved the different camra angles and when blood gets on the lens
The blood on the lense was graphic, but not in a horror flick sense - it wasn't gratuitous. There was something about it that felt so real almost like field reporting coverage of a battle. At first it was shocking, like "OK, aren't those spatters going away?" but as the long sequence went on and the more engrossed you got, it was just another thing added to the cinemascape.
About the ending - I like how there was a certainty of the immediate present, but a mixed sense of hope and uncertainty for the future. Sometimes depending on context, a movie that doesn't wrap up in a nice neat package can work really well. But I can see how that can be disoncerting for a movie goer. But I like how this movie ended with a door closing on the 'present' and another door opening to an unsettled future. You don't know what it will bring but you know Tomorrow will be there.
I think the overall narrative the film portrayed was pulled off really well. Something about it almost flowed like a literary 2nd person narrative which is very, very difficult to do.
I love the major Pink Floyd reference in that flick too. I think JacksRevenge should see it just for that. :P
