I thought Pirates was an enjoyable movie, but I'm just not that into it. I think a part of me really dislikes the concept of making a movie that's based off an old ride at Disneyland. I didn't care much for the first one at all but did like the 2nd one better.

speaking of which

I heard, because of the movie, they switch some of the ride around at both disney land and disney world. Alot of fanatics of the original ride seem to be really pissed off.

At 2 and a half hours I felt it was a little long. This is summer blockbuster entertainment not meant to be an epic piece of cinematic filmmaking.

hm, well thats where i think i disagree, i consider the Pirates of the Caribbean now amognst the other top adventure, fantasy films (star wars and lord of the rings .) And usually, each one of those movies are around 2-3 hours long, so the length of the movie doesnt seem odd to me. Its definately the best thing Disney has done since the "swiss family robinson", or "20,000 leagues under the sea" X-D .

Yeah, the old Pirates of the Caribbean ride got a facelift. It does sort of rub me the wrong way but Disneyland needs to keep up with the times so I'm not royally pissed off, change at Disneyland is often for the good. The Pirates ride is one of the original ones, and a damn great ride still to this day - I just hope the changes this time around are better than the politically correct changes they made a few years ago... There was a street scene with these pirates chasing after women, but after all these years it was considered sexist - so they replaced the lovely wenches with a fat maid running with a big tray of food and a bunch of skinny pirates chasing after her food. Lame. If there is one thing I really hoped Disney fixed was this one damn cat's tail that's been broken since I was about 8 years old. I mean, come on!! Fix the anima-tronic tail already!!

I still think Pirates was a bit too long, they could have shaved some scenes. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree - I like Davey Jones' crew the best - I was rooting for the Kraken!! That was the best part! An entertaining film but I wouldn't put it in the same league as Lord of the Rings, but that's just me. I'd put it on par with Star Wars Episodes I, II, III and Return of the Jedi.

wow, i didnt know that. But know that you mention it, if I remember the one at Disney World in florida actually has a fat wench with a rolling pin chasing some pirates. So i guess that was the forida's answer to that 'sexist' issue . However, they dont seem to be to upset about hinting the idea of prostitution, because they still have the part where they auction off "the redhead".

X-D What the hell is goofy anyway!?

Now that you mention it, I think the chunky wench at California's Disneyland is chasing some pirates too (it's been a year since I've been) but there is a tray of food in that scenario. It's just a bit silly to fixate on one thing but not on another. I still think the money would'vebeen better spent fixing the damn cat's tail (not that I'm not fixated on one thing!)

The final quarter of my day at work has been complete sh*t, so I'm gonna spend the last half hour on the internet (posting on forums and whatnot). I've been knackered all day due to not enough sleep, and this afternoon went from bad to worse. It's all been triggered by a crush at work not going so well - let's just leave it at that }:-@

Not to worry chemfan, wank it out.

Daniel: Hey - you ever get into fights when you were a kid?

Miyagi: Huh - plenty.

Daniel: Yeah, but it wasn't like the problem I have, right?

Miyagi: Why? Fighting fighting. Same same.

Daniel: Yeah, but you knew karate.

Miyagi: Someone always know more.

Daniel: You mean there were times when you were scared to fight?

Miyagi: Always scare. Miyagi hate fighting.

Daniel: Yeah, but you like karate.

Miyagi: So?

Daniel: So, karate's fighting. You train to fight.

Miyagi: That what you think?

Daniel: [pondering] No.

Miyagi: Then why train?

Daniel: [thinks] So I won't have to fight.

Miyagi: [laughs] Miyagi have hope for you.

i WANT that movie to not suck, but two words for you:

Michael. Bay.

It's gonna suck. You know they made Optimus Prime into a long nosed peterbilt, and not the flat front truck like he's supposed to be?

I don't know much about Michael Bay so you'll have to educate me. I want this movie to be something amazing, and it looks like it could be from the trailers. But, we all know how it goes, they destroy the dreams of millions :'(

Pearl Harbor.

Armageddon

Bad Boys

The Rock

The Island

The man is THE single worst director of our age, at least the single worst "Big Budget" director (Uwe Boll is worse, but they don't give him big budgets)... He's a wanna be George Lucas, James Cameron or Spielberg, but instead of classic blockbusters he makes very loud explosions of shit, sort of like when I follow a chicken vindaloo with a night of drinking Guiness.

Yeah, Transformers looks primed to be the worst movie in cinema history. I plan on going to the opening, getting really stoned, heckling the whole way through, then demanding a refund, going home and watching hte animated Transformers movie because it truly is teh win.

Michael Bay should be hung by his testicles for defiling my childhood.
