Any artist, at any venue I can think of?

The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Orbital, Caribou, Leftfield and Underworld, at my house. 3 day festival. No curfew.

What would the neighbours and your parents say? Do you have the space to allow these acts to perform with all their equipment? The Police would be called because of the noise, and possible arrests of your favourite artists. It would be a disaster!

Parents would be cool with it. Space? Not a problem. There's a large football-field-sized field on our property, after some heavy mowing it would be a perfect spot to play. It is also mostly surrounded by woods, which would have a buffering effect, decreasing the "sound footprint". Neighbors (and anyone within earshot) are invited free of charge, or if not willing to come, nicely bribed so they don't file any noise complaints. Perhaps earplugs distributed. The cops shouldn't arrive then. If they do get called, I'll just act embarrased and tell them that my dad is going through a serious mid-life crisis. Worst case scenario - he gets arrested, and the bands are sent home without charge. Extremely unlikely since we have few neighbors and they're all cool.

So no problem!

wow, having the chemical brothers sent home before theys even managed to play, you will be banned from the forum and far worse things might happen to you. plus, leftfield's very very very heavy basslines will let all buildings in a radius of 500 yards just collapse. they will also root out every single tree.
love is all.

I would've loved to have seen Daft Punk when they were first starting out. I also never managed to see a Deadmau5 gig, so I guess seeing him in 08-09ish at 9:30 Washington DC would be pretty cool. Ultra Fest in my backyard would be pretty sweet. Also, seeing anyone in Ibiza is my life's dream.

I also would like it if Daft Punk was playing at my house, at my house. :)

I think the coolest thing would be to sync up the chemical synths with the orbital set. that would be the ultimate jam session! a graphical explanation:

doesn't matter when or where, as long as I'm there :)

Kosek: I've read that book as well and it's a fantastic history of the DJ, though it has surprisingly little focus on the post-1988 era. Still a very good read.

well, fine, I'll try to be more realistic by listing gigs I would travel back in time to go see.

Mostly they would be Underworld and Chems sets. On the Underworld side, I'd love to see 1994 The Octagon, 1996 wherever in Germany "European Club Gig" was recorded, and 1998 Aztec Theater.

On The Chems side, there's too many to list. To be short, all of them. But specifically: I'd love to see Brixton Academy 1996 (it's awesome), Osaka 1997 (HBHG Demo), Woodstock 1999 (Epic version of TSU, plus boobies), HMH Amsterdam 2002 (great Under The Influence), Ultra 2005 (best Chemical Beats ever), The Concourse 2007 (most amazing Das Spiegel live), Bologna 2007 (to hear Nude Night and a very chilling Golden Path afterwards), Olympia 2008 (PILLS, LIVE, PERIOD), Fox Theatre 2010 (for Another World + Dissolve live and the encore of TSU), and Paris 2011 (for the awesomeness, and to see Bloke go nuts when The Reel hits).

And any of the bands that I would've had at my hypothetical gig I would also go see. I wouldn't know specifics for them though.

Okay, so I've recently come across the existence of the 1996 Organic Festival in California:

The Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Underworld, The Orb, Meat Beat Manifesto and Loop Guru at one gig playing the same night. This replaces everything I put here before.

Great, now I've read the whole thread before realizing WhiteNoise just dug it up from the forum graveyard.
Well, this entitles me to an entry, I guess.

Time Travel: The Chems at Trafalgar Square in 2007, because it was the only (?) time they played Hold Tight London live.

Plus I would love to see a concert by The Dresden Dolls. Doesn't matter where.

Led Zeppelin - Madison Square garden or anywhere, really
Nirvana - Reading 1992 (I could see them in Ljubljana, Slovenia, early in 1994 but didn't go, i am an idiot, but I did spend the night drinking with Dave and Krist day after the concert Posted Image)
And I would really like to be in Vienna, 7th of May in 1824 for premiere of Beethoven's 9th.

The mini-debate or um, disagreement above has got me thinking... Some band websites have a song browser. You click the song title and it will tell you: how many recorded versions of the song exist (album, single, remixes, live, radio sessions), what album(s) it was on, how many times it has been played live, when was the first and last time it was played live, writing credits, lyrics and other unique notes (e.g: "originally known as Pumisher's erection song", or "Tate Modern are the only people who got a copy of this"). I'm not saying I'm the guy to do it...just that some band websites have that stuff.

Nicely dug up, WN! I'd still go for a jam session, but this time I want Aamon Tobin in the spaceship-like studio of Tom and Ed with Ralf and Florian. And to complete it: for the vocals I'd need Beth Orton to do her magic.

If you're interested, have a look on Benji's ftp server. He should have it on there, otherwise I could send you the set, if you like.

In my spare time, I've been working on a Chemical Brothers Wikia. Not sure when or if it's going to go live, but when or if it does, it'll be a lot like that.

thats a pretty unbeatable line up. best i can come up with is the creamfields bugged out tent . 2001. Stayed there all night, remember very little though. Apart from the fact that they basically broke up the day into two. It was bubbling up really nicely then the gorillaz came on (1st albun era) and kinda sent a lot of people out of tent, then everyone came back for the chems and orbital. but having seen the other arenas, it looked like a mega line up

and does a recording of that Chemical Beats performance at Ultra exist?

p.s. I would like to go back in time, and see The Chemical Brothers all live shows, and Daft Punk's 1997 tour.
