@Whirly - I quite like Vertical Limit, I have it on DVD somewhere. Which death scene did you mean?

@Star Wars Phantom Menace - I like this film but I don't think I've ever really followed the storyline other than the basic young Luke Skywalker growing up thing. Seemed like the main characters darting about from one planet to another, as in "we must go to [insert name] planet to talk to the [insert name] people".

Worst film for me probably The Flintstones but will try and think of some more.

Star Wars 1 and 3 are good, but Attack of the clones is so gay

'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' is the most underrated Bond-movie. 'Licence To Kill' was the worst (although it has one of the best title tracks) but now it is 'Quantum Of Solace'.

I would say :

Astérix at the olympic games (what's this fucking shit ?!?)

Harry potter and the order of the Phoenix (Longest book, shortest film, bad movie)

Minority Report (just boring...)

Titanic (I hate this sort of emo-hype movies...)

Revolver. Guy Ritchie at his worst.

No way Ben J! That film got a lot of stick but I absolutely loved it (bought it on DVD last week). The cinematography is brilliant and Jason Statham is always a great choice. My favourite scene is when Statham is in the lift and his fighting with his own mind, I thought that was shot very smartly.

I would say read the book that Minority Report was based on Maboul59, by Philip K Dick who's written some of the best book to films ever. I haven't read it myself but I know of his skill.

Pumisher, QoS is a good film. Bond is cool again, Bond is British again. The film didn't feel like it had a real ending, I hear it's all part of a bigger plot which will become apparant in the upcoming sequels. QoS was set 20mins after Casino Royale.

Philip K. Dick is awesome! But it takes a certain kind of film team to bring that literary vision to film.

I only saw Minority Report once, in the theater, and I didn't think it was particularly bad. The whole premise was very surreal and the way the film was paced seemed a little 'off'. At least going by memory, the film did seemed to drag in parts, and the story felt too convoluted to follow. There were also some scenes that played a bit too much like a giant futuristic Lexus commercial. But I didn't think it was terrible. Not a great film, but not terrible. I thought Colin Farrell was quite good.

Want reallllly bad bad sci-fi? Johnny Mnemonic!!

I thought Minority Report was pretty good too. But the problem with movies like Minority Report, is they get the Hollywood ending where the hero always struggles mightily, but still finds his/hers justice. But you guys are right the story did drag some times. Love that eye transplant scene though... :P

@ mcmarsh - it's the first death scene in the movie when 'Dad' plummets to his death, eagle soaring and screeching in the sky. I heard about it from this kid I used to work with who saw Vertical Limit in the theater, and he said the first 10 minuts of the film was totally worth the price of admission. When it came out on video we rented it and we re-wound that scene so many times we ended up breaking the cassette.

We're weird like that. We re-wind stuff just to get a laugh all the time. Are my husband and I the only people to re-wind and re-watch scenes they find amusing?

I am ashamed to say but I love Sandler films

Worst films i've seen this year:
Battle: Los Angeles - Why the hell were they so saddendend by the death of a random Mexican fella, and didn't flinch when their team mates died? Wound me up! I love alien films, but this was so shitty, I actually prefered Skyline to this.

The Setup -
I saw Bruce Willis on the cover and instantly put it on to watch. Then I saw "Curtis 50 Cent Jackson" in the titles and I knew what I was in for. I lasted 20 mins. You shouldn't be allowed to act just because you're rich! Bruce had a minor role, I don't know what he was thinking.

Bridesmaides
- I put this on because someone said it was like The Hangover, and again I had to turn it off. Obviously it's aimed at females so i'm not its target audience, but there's this certain breed of humour which has been popular in the last 5 years or so that I just don't get. It's like they're trying to do subtle humour, but they can't quite pull it off.

as soon as i read topic of this tread, i remembered Snakes on a plane and it is by far the worst movie ever...Requiem was ok i guess, but it does play alot on disgust, much like Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, all for the sake of scaring people (never take drugs and so on), but it does hold some educational value Posted Image
one more thing - almost everybody i know hated Eyes wide shut, and i can well understand that Kubrick movies can be boring sometimes, much as lets say Radiohead in music, but i found that his movies are much layered and even after few dozen times watching you could still find some detail you missed before

Snakes on a Plane was great! Something you watch with friends, just to laugh at how shit it is.
Did you watch that recent Kubrick documentary with the British fella going through his film boxes? The guy scrutinzed every shot, his attention to detail was a sickness.
