I think with this ... I was expecting something different but even after all this time, I couldn't tell you exactly what I was expecting. Maybe I was expecting more of the same... I really don't know and it doesn't matter now.

I've never been happier to eat my nasty, initial remarks I made about ....

That ... taught me how to grow to love something, to just let go and expect the unexpected.

Woah, woah, woah..... thought you were talking about anal there for a second. Had to read back through the thread to realize we're talking about the Chems, though I suppose same rules apply. I was getting a little hot and bothered for a minute!

Bwaaaaah!

I should've known that my post would be taken the wrong way. No matter how fleeting the moment was. X-D

Yeah, PTB is awesome! I find it really hard to compare it to the previous albums coz it feels so different. It's hard to say specifically why, I mean it's dead easy to spot the difference in style between the first 3 or 4 albums, but with PTB it's a lot more subtle. It's similar to Come With Us, but the feel of the album has changed, rather than the actual sound (if that makes sense!)

its a journey of all their previous works into the new ones, and its just brilliant music, that's what it is and makes it hard to compare, which good music doesn't need to be . . .

I think I've said this many times before, I can never compare two albums when it comes to the Chems or Floyd. They'r both a league of their own, and every album deserves a pedestal of it's own, they'r all different experiences, not just albums with certain kind of music on em. Whatever.

Thats just like giving the chems 1 kind of genre. They aren't one genre, they explore many different genres.

Genres, labels, all marketing gimmicks.. leave the chems and floyd out. i don't put em under any genres - can't define their music as one style, unless it's their own.

yep, the chems are synthetictypaalphabetapsychedelicfunk sometimes. ;)

I love the whole album in one hit as all the tracks are beautifully done, different to other albums, more gentle but pungent too. galvanize really punches the start and it all ends in wonderful marvoging.

lets face it people this album as a whole is lush. It has to be listened to as a whole piece. track after track is unique, yet again.

I put on PTB now just now, it's still fucking glorious. I realised that I haven't listened to any Chems for weeks. Too much working on my own music. Or not enough probably.

i'd contest that. all their albums have been lush, but then i do get what u mean, so ah nevermind.

but bout the second part, every chems album is a whole album experience for me always, i can never skip tracks, i'm funny i guess. i hate it when someone tells me skip to that track, it's my fav, i just tell em to shut the fuck up and wait for it. if they deserve it, they'll get it.

I suppose I'd have to nominate Surface to Air as my favourite, with Close Your Eyes a close second. Galvanize and Hold Tight London finish close behind.

I can't pinpoint songs, it's a whole album experience (damn, i KEEP saying this :) ), but Hold Tight London's one of the highlights for me on the album. Time to just leave everything, kick back, and... ;)
