Alright kids, I'm going away for the weekend. Road trip time through long stretches of desolate desert roads! I'm going to Arizona, where it's hotter than haites but the lizards love it.
Behave yourselves while I'm gone. ;)
And if you don't hear from me by Tuesday, call the police.

Not really a vacation, more like a getaway and a peek-a-boo of my in-law's new digs. My father-in-law and his wife just moved to Arizona, about 35 miles outside of Phoenix.
Lots of cactus, lots of rocks, more heat than I can stand, and lots of beautiful stars at night.
We took a journey to the old town Flagstaff which is a beautiful mountain town - pretty cool vibe and a lot more liberal than the rest of Arizona we saw.
Can't say I'd ever consider moving to AZ (dad-in-law trying to convince us it's a good idea.) Not that it's a horrible place, but it's very strange to see empty neighborhood streets in the summertime and no children playing in the parks because it's simpy too hot to be outiside. The nighttime was pleasant though. It's very warm, about 90 at sundown but without that blasted sun beating on your back, so it feels a lot cooler than in actually is.
Aahhhhh. It's good to be back in my coastal California town!
