Freak of the Week: in case you hadn't noticed, the Chemical Brothers make big beat music. And by the way, theres more to a song than the beats, which makes your reason for hating the test all fucked up. The Test's "embarassing old nineties-style big beats" are not what make the song, the music does.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

...yes its all about music not just beats - but the "embarassing old nineties-style big beats" ruines the hole track and therefore 'the music' (!??!) - I love the synths of the track and most of the vibe in it - but the drums?? and the hole brith-pop meets electronic boys and creates 'modern rock' is so fucking stupid... Richard Arsecroft is an okay artist - but this track seems to be a last-minute thing "come on Tom we need to make a male vocal track just like seeting sun and let forever be - just without Liam (or is it Noel??) -

I love the brothers and i do like some of their vocal tracks - as long as they make those super great live-dance-versions for the gigs (setting sun live!!!!)

And some of their vocal tracks is actually among their greatest works, Out of control is at my top 10 chem list.

Freak of the Week : Your signature says I love b-sides and now you say you don't like Base 6. That is kindda self contradictary.

I feel sorry :'( :'( for you. You have indeed proven by ignoring such a brilliant piece of 'art' - 'Base 6' that you are really Freak of the Week(wwweeeaaakk) :'(

Personally, I love Base 6. I love that big beat sound - if it weren't for those big beat sounds I wouldn't have fallen for the Chems. Some things, like the Big Beat formula, are tried and true - the Chems pioneered the Big Beat. But if you stagnate, you're sound gets stale. There's nothing wrong with a big fat beat pushing its way into less travelled and new Chemical territory. There's nothing wrong with them rediscovering their big beat roots while putting a twist on a song so it sounds fresh and updated. That's just my take. Base 6, imo, is not my favorite but I think it's a fine b-side. And yes Piku, it sounds friggen awesome in a club!

I will have to disagree with Mr. Freak though. I can see where he's coming from in his thoughts but I don't think The Test is about Tom running out of ideas for a new Noel Gallagher guest appearance. That's a bit unfair imo, but, you know... it's just an opinion and that's ok because it's my stereo, not his. ;)

Sometimes I like to agree to disagree.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I dont see whats wrong with Base 6. Its a awesome b-side that does'nt get boring ( OK, maybe the 1-2-3-4-5-6 thing is kinda 'un-original' ) and it has great drums, bass's and synths. Thats what counts.
