This movie made such a big impression on me and my ex bf.
Honestly everybody should see it. it's not only about the clowning and krumping , it's also about live in this part of L.A. And the big battle they show is just...you can't sit still !!
And i agree Whirly , Miss Prissy def has some serious moves.
Big up to mr LaChapelle.

Jeanie, I'm glad you liked the movie!!
Hands down, Miss Prissy owns us all. Then again, I've yet to see you dance big craters into the floors of dance clubs everywhere. ;)
The Dizzy Rascal song Fix Up Look Sharp was great along with the tune they played during the dance-off.

And you've been playing games when I've caught those VH-1 Madonna thingies. ;) MTV had a contest years ago - it was where anyone could submit a video to go with Madonna's song True Blue. And I did sit through all those amateur videos sent in, MTV aired every one of them and it lasted pretty much the whole day. I was something like 13 at the time, so what else was I going to do with my time? X-D
You should know me by now, stash. I am strangely drawn to Madonna whenever she's on tv. I can't say I'd rush out to buy her music but there's something about her... except for the phantom English accent.
She has a beautiful family.

oh man, I remember the True Blue contest! damn, that's a loooong time ago... back when Madonna was still skanky.
Her kids were so funny on that clip they showed... I want to watch that documentary, just for those kids.

Hey how's this for getting to know your wife over the internet...
I saw Truth or Dare in the theater. Opening night. That was deifnitely the pinnacle of her uber-skankiness!
I guess that I knew you liked madonna, but I'm just really nice and overlook it, like what you do with my love of Goldie Lookin' Chain and the Happy Flowers.

What she stands for? You mean, becoming a superstar by being a whore?
Oh, and rimjobs, I guess she stands for those too :P

Didnt really pay much attention to this thread before, but its sparked an interest with what im teaching at school.
I have to teach dance to a group of year 7 pupils over a 6 week period as part of there PE program. Dance isnt a personal interest of mine so ive trying to make it more interesting.
The dance I teach has to be a street dance style simular to the style used in the Galvanize video. Therefore what Ive decided to do it create a dance motif based around the danceing in the video which I can then teach to the kids to perform, then what the kids have to do it vary the dance ive taught them with it the timing working with the music and add there own movements. Each week will have a theme such as pauses, use of levels, points of contact with other. Any idea guys and gals?

I know the best way to learn is to do it yourself, but I highly recommend some homework for these kids.
There are a lot of videos out that have to do with krumping. Personally I haven't seen them, but I've sold quite a few at my last job. I don't know if these videos go into the history of the dance, but I'm sure it's touched upon like a lot of dance videos are.
I highly recommend Rize, mainly because I saw it and because it goes into the history etc. - all the aspects that we've talked about earlier in this thread.
If they know where the dance is coming from, it's history and the psychology behind the dance, they'll gain a better understanding of the art and what they're getting into. Also seeing the variation in these videos might inspire them to create their own moves and incorporate their style into the dance.
