Just say you advertised to share your flat in the paper. When the people come round to view flat and the check out what you are like, what album would you have on in the background to impress them?

I think bad choices would be stuff like Aphex Twin and Autechre, they're just going to think you're a nutter. Also anything by Cradle of Filth is likely to scare off any potential flat mates.

I just thought of this topic so I haven't really thought what i'd have yet, i'll wait for you lot first.

Fuck sake, you're missing the whole point you nob jockey. Just choose an album that you feel represents you, or how you would like to be represented musically.

I reckon something neutral that everyone would love. Moby - Play would be well accepted I think, I could cope with that,

Hmm, I'd probably opt for the second half of Singles actually...

I remember when I had my second apartment (it was 3 bedrooms) my husband, roomie and I put an ad up at the local grocery store, looking for a roomate.

I remember in particular we interviewed this Irish guy and we had the Stone Roses on, which was playing before he showed up - we obviously didn't turn it off, but went right on with the interview.

It's your flat, you're not out to impress anybody. If anything, it's the other way around. The potential roommates will do everything in their power to impress you!

I should know - I've had shitloads of roommates and most the time, it ended poorly. They were different people once they moved in - I had one roommate who was an old coworker of mine. I knew he was heavily into drugs but had cleaned up his act. Soon as he moved in, he was back to doing speed, and if we were out we'd come back to find his heroin junkie friends nodding off on their couch... then there's the whole "junkie be good stick" that we acquired... ah memories. It seems like a lifetime ago.

Maybe you should let them chose something from your CD collection, so you can make yourself a picture about their taste in music. Could be important for the future... ;-)

Good point. You don't want to find they love Britiney Spears after they've moved in.

I'd play Logical Progression Volume One. Mixed by LTJ Bukem

It's such a cool, laid back drum and bass album, just like me I guess.

My choice would be Surrender simply cos it has both chillout and dance on it, but then Leftism has that as well....

...no in fact I would choose some good background music, probably Royksopp's Melody AM.

I'd have no music on and I'd ask them "If you could put on any music right now, what would it be?"

Harsh!

I haven't hear that Aphex Twin song, but if it's anything similar to what he usually writes, then I'm afraid I have to agree with iguana. Aphex stuff can be scary, and too experimental, a lot of weirdness.

Still, if you've got your heart set on an Aphex Twin fan as your housemate, then it's a perfect filter!!

I have already put fear into my friends minds with his work. Amazing stuff it is.
