I have heard that eating human meat affects your brain in a particular fashion, which lead to mental diseases. I heard something like this a long time ago.
I heard this a long time ago too, and it was brought up later when I took a social anthropology course in college. Actually, I think I saw the documentary of this on PBS (long before the Discovery Channel.) I believe, but my memory is a little fuzzy... I believe it was in New Guinea and a scientist was actually called in the study and investigate the cannibalistic rituals of the tribe in question. Basically, these tribespeople ate their dead, particularly the brains, as a show of respect so that their deceased kin would live on in the bodies of the living. The tribespeople started developing a bad shaking habit and their brains pretty much were deteriorating which lead to psychosis. Anywho. This scientist (his name eludes me) spent a number of years working with these people and eventually the condition was eradicated - this wasn't just a "stop eating brains because it's bad for you and it's a bad habit" kind of situation. The ritual of eating the dead was a large part of this tribe's culture and had been practised for many years, so this ritual had to be eased out of the cultural infrastructure of the tribe. I think the scientist who devoted years to helping these tribespeople got a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
