Jeanie that is awesome! I know what Saatchi & Saatchi is. My brother used to be the CCO... The ad industry - and anything that has to do with media on a large scale - is so tough. For you to have gotten such an incredible promotion is a truly great achievement and you should be proud of yourself, girl! Well done! I told you that in a couple of years you'd be owning the company. ;)

I had such a crazy drama filled week. I'm SOOOOOOOO glad it is over. Some stupid bullcrappy on the job came up, I got pulled in the middle and things escalated (due to what happened I am not at liberty to talk about it, even though I want to vent because I feel so bad about it all) and the whole thing's just left me feeling beyond yuck and horrible for everyone that had to be involved.

stash and Connor have been gone the past 3 days and I've been a bit lonely.

I need a stiff drink.

No love for work.

No love for California's budget woes.

But love for all of you.

Right back @ you bro!

Update: Vacation Denied!

Boss tells me they can't afford to have someone else to do my job for my 4 days while i'm in Indio, plus they'll be shorthanded anyway! All BS! But here's the catch.....I can request only 1 day out of those 3!

Ok,Ok, Let's see! Fri,Sat,or Sunday!

Your call Tom and Ed!

Vacation denied!! Oh man - though it's good you are needed on the job, to be denied time off is such a bummer. :( At least you get the one day, but... man oh man.

I am still holding out hope that our boys will make an appearance but whatever will be, will be. My vacation time is already booked and I am so looking forward to it. Even if I don't end up going anywhere or doing anything, it will be nice to not have to think about work for a few days!

Congrats Jeanie!

I've just come back from holiday, went to Salzburg in Austria. Was a beautiful place and also thick with snow (my fellow Brits must think I'm mad as Britain was gripped with snow and general coldness about 3 weeks ago)! Also got to Vienna, about 3 hours train ride away.

I decided a couple of years ago I was bored to tears with flying and more recently appalled by the government's decision to build another runway at Heathrow. I flew to Salzburg from Stansted with mates but travelled back solo by train, spending an afternoon in Munich (Germany) which was a great city, and a night in Paris. Munich was a buzzing place, there were about 4 stages down the main shopping street (albeit most of them playing mainly cheesy europop stuff), loads of people and I kept finding myself drawn to its many impressive buildings. Didn't see much of Paris as I wasn't there long...Ben_J may not be thrilled with that statement, however I was left very impressed indeed after travelling on a rather fast blue and grey train from Stuttgart ;).

Great holiday, still smiling now even after going back to work today :). Only downside was spending 40 minutes in London...

Jealous!

Sounds awesome.

The farthest I'm going to travel in the next year is probably Phoenix, Arizona, which is definitely a disappointment considering I've made the jaunt over the Atlantic to several destinations in the EU & U.K. during the last four years. >:-(

Alas, I'm moving to Portland sometime in the next nine months to live with my girlfriend (finally, seeing how it's been nearly four years now) and need to save money.

I do hope there is a paralegal job waiting there for me... Or, rather, I hope I find a paralegal position in Portland sooner rather than later. Definitely not moving without a job. Fucking suicide, man.

You're moving to Portland?! That's awesome and I'm a bit upset. Rent is cheap though, drove there for a wedding a few months ago and the place I was staying at cost as much as my studio/garage in Santa Cruz. There's definitely a mild possibility I may move up there in the next few years, really great place.

Speaking of road trips, I also went to the phoenix area after christmas. It's rare to see a place where a layer of smog sits on top of it in winter, I think that's God's way of saying people aren't supposed to live there.

Pooter! Soon to be an Ex-California resident. Good for you. Hopefully a lush pad and a great job will land shortly. Definitely a big step in life but worthy of new scenery.

There is alot of impressive buildings over there Mcmarsh. My faves are the cylinder-looking BMW tower and the Hypobank, which were subjects in my architecture study when I was in school. Munich is choice to visit in the summertime.

mcmarsh - your trip to Austria and Germany sounds pretty sweet, man! And of course you traveled partly by rail. ;) You should post some pics of the scenery when you get a chance!

Pooter - I think it's wonderful that you're taking the plunge and planning to finally move in with your girlfriend. I mean, 4 years. It's about freakin time. California will miss the Pooter resident but making the move I'm sure will be well worth it. Change of scenery, taking the next step with your girlfriend, all of that.

Also speaking of AZ. Stash and Connor went there last week (I was stuck working and couldn't tag along). It was their first road trip alone and Connor was all excited to be goin' places with his daddy. Stash's dad and step mom live out that way outside of Phoenix in a town called Anthem. It's a new community that was built during the boom a few years ago but it's literally a ghost town now that the economy has tanked. Anyway - Arizona is just too damn hot for my liking. The first time I went there it was in August. It was so strange to drive around see the nicely manicured streets of suburban Anthem and not one single child was outside playing. It must've been about 110 degrees at least! We went to grab some Slurpies and by the time we got into the car and revved up the a/c, they were all melted in the course of 3 minutes. The summer nights are pleasant enough since the sun isn't beating on your back, and when you drive out of the city, the pitch black sky looks like it's exploding with stars. The desert is a beautiful, almost alien landscape. I just couldn't bear living in it because the heat is too much.

I come from Southern California near the desert so I'm used to heat, but man, Arizona is way too extreme.

Thanks for all your well wishes. I'll need them when the time comes to actually find a job and move. For the next few months I don't have to worry about anything much--things are fairly straightforward with my job here in San Francisco. And I will definitely enjoy my last few months here.

Anyway, I'm off to visit my son this weekend. :D

Apparently she has an autobiography coming out. She's 16. What's it going to be, 16 pages long?

Had a great weekend. Had too much to drink, smoked just enough, spent a lot of time in the sun and picked up some rolls for the SMD show in Seattle on Friday.

To quote Mitch Hedberg:

"I love my fed-ex guy cause he's a drug dealer and he don't even know it...and he's always on time."
