Hey boys, hey girls !
I'm just back from the Eurockennes of Belfort (in the far east of France). It was the best festival I ever went to !
First day :
Highlights :
Arctic monkeys : I was very surprised ! Thos young guys really rocked the house, they are one of the best live band I ever saw!
Daft Punk : THE thing I was waiting for... And I'm not disapointed at all. Huge, huge show ! a better show than the chems IMO (but not a better music). I was right in front of the middle of the stage, not so close to it, and the sound was really perfect (The Eurockeennes had the best soundsystem in Europe), except at one moment in the set, when the bass were a little too loud. The visuals were quite different from Coachella. There was more visuals on the big screen behind the pyramid, and during Too Long, the pyramid didn't had so much visuals on it... I went nuts during the intro, I went nuts when "Around the World" bass began, I went nuts when Rollin' & Scratchin began, I went nuts so much during this live... Big respect for the dafts !
Lowlights :
The Strokes : maybe they do good music, but they are supa boring live... No punch at all, I had the impression to listen to an album on big speakers.
Deftones : I don't really like this kind of music...
Second day :
Highlights :
Enhancer : a french metal/hip hop band. It was pretty cool, their sound is good.
Hushpuppies : a french rock band (but they sing in english) really surprised too, I dig it !
Depeche Mode : good show, good sound (especially the intro which sound very "electro")
France scoring against Brazil : We could see the match on the bars of the festival. France scored between two Depeche Mode songs, so we saw the people on the bars jumping and shouting, and then the whole crowed shouted !
La Caution : a french hip hop band, wuite good, even if we saw only one song.
Coldcut : as good as usual, but we were super-tired, so we left before the end (I didn't mind, as I already saw them twice), and we also had the ocasion to verify the power of the soundsystem : 20 minutes after we left the festival, we were at about a kilometer of the stage, we still could clearly hear True Skool !
Lowlights :
Sunday Drivers : I didn't like it that much... And the singer has Phil Collins voice
Duracell : experimental with a synth and drums... Could have been cool, but it's not musical and not danceable at all...
Morissey : get out you old tired man...
Katerine : he's a french singer, but sings really silly and gross things... Plus he's mental.
Third and last day :
Highlights :
Muse ! Their stage is pretty cool : there are 5 White LCD screens, with big squares displaying a color, and projectors to display visuals. And I think Vegetable Visions were taking care of that part of the show cause I saw visuals looking like the Chems show (a galopping horse silouhette, a girl silouhette that looks like the one on Come inside visuals...). They also have transparent tubes with white spirals around. As for the musical part : they really rock ! The songs from their new album sound better live than on the album, and the old classics are always as brilliant. The big negative point : as soon as the concert began, I've been completely compressed because everybody pushed. Then I found myself pushed 30 meters left in 1mn and then 30 meters back right, I was at the same place as before but 10 rows behind... and it kept on pushing and all, and there was dust in the aire, I nearly did an asthma attack...
Archive : I'll remember this live all my life, Archive are a wonderful live band... "Again" ... what a song !
Art Brut : I had never heard of them before, I liked it but the singer doesn't have a nice voice.
Lowlights :
Blackalicious : bo-ring...

The set was basically the same, but a little better : more filter effects (T. Bangalter love filter effect ^^) and more Beat Repeat (great great joy for me, because I love that )
Next, I'm gonna be at Solidays, a pretty cheap festival, cheap in price and in artists, because it's more "classic" artists, not much rock and very few electro artists... But all my friends are going and are staying at my flat so I'll go with them !
Plus the girl I went with to the Eurockennes (I have a little crush on her :-// ) Is going there too...
